ATM Downtime

Well I guess being with ABSA helps me in this regard - and also that I'd hopefully be asleep :D
But at least know I know where some of the exorbitant fees have gone to - for them to have there own VSAT hub.

"ATMs across SA to go offline on August 10"

So 27 FNB ATMs will go down in rural areas, Standard and ABSA not affected. Did this even need an article? Or such a silly heading?

Yes, because the alarm systems may also not work and the ATM bombers need to know where, and for how long they can work in peace.

Half the ATM's I go to seem to be out-of-service anyway, so no one would really notice that this time it is due to a maintenance upgrade.

However, what could be useful to know is wether the upgrade affects the SASWITCH network. IOW, if 'my' bank is down can I go to an ABSA terminal and get money there? Journalists in this country! Eish!

Edit: My 1st sentence is a sarcastic comment to the quoted text and should not be interpreted that the writer of the article is involved in illegal activites in any way.

As far as I know Saswitch uses diginet links between the banks, so it should be unaffected. Wat is most interesting to me in this article is that Nedbank don't know their own systems well enough to know what the impact will be....

ATM bombing during that time frame might actually be a good idea. Maybe we shouldn't say so though. Just now we actually give them the idea :)

at least they doing it in the early hours when most should be asleep... but it takes 6hours to do?!
