You may want to play 720P as that looks better but that already saturates most netbook displays.

You only want 1080p for external displays - that defeats the purpose behind a netbook. Buy a stand alone HDD based player instead.

I actually just realized something that a netbook is limited grrr, my projector can do 1368 x something but the netbook limits it to 1024 x 786.

Surely the netbook's small screen is what limits it. Through an external display, you should be able to take the resolution way higher.

No well i connect it via rgb cable, so it sees what the netbook sees which is the lower res

Don't have anything bigger to connect it with but it is not a train smash, just would like to see the 720p at the correct resolution but i will buy a smaller pc to do that i reckon

Sure but officially only Bluray has 1080p24 video. Even Itunes sells 720p max and we all know that outside of the USA that is not available.

In short since a netbook has no BD drive and hooking one up is possible but requires an HDCP connection which I doubt a netbook has - well it's a lost cause.

Netbooks aren't meant for 1080p but Intel GMA 500 can play that back at full res. Ion can possibly do that too but GMA 500 can prolly do it better.

You should be able to independently select the resolution for the external monitor. Perhaps you need to turn the built-in display off?

Snerd yea man thanx, i checked my netbook and intel had the option of single monitor i select that and my resolution is now 1296 x 720 or something
