Audi Freeway Plan - Extend

Ok, so Dolby, what did you then decide on the Freeway Plan side? I don't think you can own an S4 without it unless you have R100k in a slush fund for that inevitable gearbox trouble

Is it possible to extend more than once, so maybe go for 1 year, then another year/20 000km when you are near 99000km? By then you will have a much clearer picture of the reliability of the vehicle, plus you will have possibly a different financial situation and can re-assess.

I *think* you can - I didn't actually ask if you can keep doing the re-extending. I don't think you'll have an issue, but it'll be really expensive at R30,000-R40,000 a time.

My plan end February 2015 so for the time being, I've decided to leave it and, as you say, assess the situation and the car over the next 9 months. If I have no issues I may go for a Motorite warranty for the big things - but brakes, service setc are my baby then

The gearbox issues effect the S Tronic so through no fault of my own, I've limited the expense that could happen by having a manual. That said a clutch is probably R25,000 and I'd like to have that check out in the next few weeks as I've picked up a little something. They have said that they need to asses and it probably will be covered - but I'll let you know.

Oh - I'm actually in a horrible situation too.

75,000km and just over 4 years old - and I probably only do 16,000 per year. If I extend by 1 year only, it effectively becomes a 6 year/100,000km and goes to Feb 2016.

So February 2015 I'll have 87,000km and by when I hit 100,000km, I'd only have benefited 10 months of the 1 year (R21,000)
If I do 1 year/20,000km for R30,000 or so, I'll have 103,00okm and waste 17,000km

You can extend the plan up to a max coverage of 7 years / 200,000 km if I'm not mistaken.

That's mine now ;)

That is the exception rather than the rule. The average price is around R330,000 - but I still find 8-10% per year for an incase is a little high.

I hate you. :( Lovely car and many happy miles, please post some pics and a review after you've spent a good while in her.

Thanks man!

I was even excited to drive to work and can't wait until I can't wait until I can go home ;)

Just thinking getting nicer looking wheels at some stage

I'll take those if you don't want them anymore. What do you have in mind for putting on though?

Or, you know, you could go for bread and milk out of town everyday..

But seriously, you should either drive more and enjoy some long journeys, or sell the car with freeway plan left and get a decent price for it.

Your other option is to really be careful and drive as little as possible so you don't hit 100 000km before the end of the term.

...

R30,000 for 1 yr / 20,000km (I assume double at 2 years)
R42,000 for 2 yrs - time only, not KM

The time just doesn't benefit me - I have 75,000km with the plan expiring Feb 2015 at which case I'll have around 87,000m on the car. I can extend to Feb 2016 at (I guess) R21,000, but it still keeps the 100,000km limit which I'll hit in Dec 2015 and the last 2 months wasted
Were u saying that you guess because it's half of R42,000?

At my current rate I am packing on the KMs, my 2010 A3 will be around 61,000km at 5 years old in November 2015. Really low I know, but I guess good for me if buying time from Audi is not too expensive?

Hi,

Yup - they gave me an official quote for 2 years (keeping the 100,000km) and it was R42,000 - so I just halved it as I haven't had time to phone them. Also I think it depend on the model so an A4 may be better priced than an S4

It isn't it super low? I think around 16,000km pa

I have thought of that too. I'll see over the next 9 months

Cool - phoned them but only got the pricing applicable to me :

1 year only - R21,122.00
2 year only - R42,242.00
2 year / 20,000km - R38,764.00

Yea I noticed - probably because with options 2 you may do 30,000km+ in the time while option 3 is limited to the 20,000km

Stop wasting your life. Get option 3 and enjoy your damn awesome car properly without a second thought. :)

hehe - I will man ;)

That options gives me another 45,000km and 2.5 years which is probably the best for me and enough time to enjoy :P

Thanks, i will assume the pricing applicable to my A3 would possibly be a bit cheaper, but will confirm when I get a chance / when it's time for me to consider my options!

I just got a quote for my A5. Only 1 option available to me - apparently.

1 year - 20,000kms : R34,253. Sigh...

I will do that 20,000kms in 10 month's, so not worth it. Amount's to one single service too. Not worth it.
Rather taking a warranty on the car for R7k (quoted) and will take my car to good old Auto Service Centre who have always services my out of plan Audi's.
