Hi,

I'm going to phone tomorrow regarding an extension - but in the meantime does any one know a cost of extending if you've inquired yourself?

They say competitive ....

http://www.audi.co.za/za/brand/en/service/freeway_plan.html

Top-up options to extend maintenance up to 200 000 km or seven years are available at extremely competitive rates

If I'm not mistaken it is somewhere around R1.27680 per KM extended. So extending by 20,000 would be 25,536 bucks.

Not sure on time period costs.

Could be less, it would depend on the model, age, etc. That was what I was quoted on an oldish A5 sportback when I was looking at buying something in the 300 price range. Could be much less for some other models.

What are the rates for the competition?

I'm not sure - but when I read extremely competitive, I thought a little less.

2010 Audi S4 - so similar I guess

I know a guy who extended on his S3 (less than 60k kms) paid 20k for a year - let us know what they say tomorrow

In most cases you lose the benefit if you write off the car, so it makes sense to buy the extension as late as possible.

I have no option - the car is at 77,000km so it's pretty late as is.

But I wonder if the price would differ the later you bought it ?

The plan runs 5 year / 100,000 (or 115,000) km so you should still have enough distance coverage, though adding a year would be a good bet.

This is wear BMW is so much better - you can extend time (cheap) or kilometers (expensive) vs Audi, which is expensive, full stop.

So..... What does BMW charge? Kind of hard to know where to stand on your comment without numbers.

I do 15,000km year - so quite low I think.

FWP runs out Feb 2015 and (if I had it) it would be at 93,000km at that point. Another 50,000km cover would be great ... but not at R50k!

I wonder if they change cambelt before it runs out?

BMW charged me R1800 to extend a year. Another extension later was R3500. Both within 100,000 kms though.

The equivalent Audi charge was about R25,000 - there is no distinction between distance and time.

Yoh! - R30,000.00 to do 1yr/20,000km

Yoh! - R30,000.00 to do 1yr/20,000km

So 1/3 the cost of a new gearbox. Worth it.

I heard you can do years OR km or both with Audi now? I'm also looking to extend by 1 year only, not Km's.

Yea I'm going to phone another branch because she seemed irritated at my questions.

Does very on cars on though - had to give a chassis number
