I don't mind going to an installer but since I have this Takealot prize I think it would be easier to use it.
 
You could upgrade your 4" in the dash and use the amp to filter out low frequencies and have the same amp run a sub in the boot. Use the front channels to run the 4" and bridge the rear to power the sub. Midbass will be lacking in that sort of install though.
 
You're just up the road from me. I moved to Unit 1 a week ago.

My advice would be to get a good Class A amp to drive the four 6x9's and 2 Tweeters and a seperate cheap-ish Monoblock amp to drive your 2 x 12" superwoofers. Might need a crossover and a sub switch in your panel as well.
 
Keep in mind that the most important thing besides for speakers is the enclosures you put them in. You can put a top notch speaker in a badly made box and it will sound terrible....

I'm not a audiophile but duly noted.
 
You can buy your stuffs from Takealot and take it to any reputable installer. Labour shouldn't be much for wiring and mounting. You can even get stuff like backboards and sub enclosures from Osmans if you not looking to spend much.
 
Reference Audio Amp, Pioneer DVC and maybe a pair of 6x9s...

Keep the stock head unit up until you have more money or when you plan on selling the car again.

Got a Kenwood head unit already installed, has usb, aux in.
 
You need a mono block for the sub alone and a 4 channel amp for 2 6x9s and 2 mids I front.

Then you need to but cabling.
 
That amp with 2x6.5" split systems plus 4" mids will be sufficient. If you need more oomph then you can add an 8" or 10" SVC sub.
 
Kicker has 4" coaxials which will work well with that amp.

The remaining 2 channels on your amp can be bridged for 125W RMS which is not a lot to power a subwoofer but you can find a 8" or 10" sub that will work with that power.

I have a RE Audio REX 8" in my wife's SUV that works with 120W RMS. Unfortunately these subs are not available easily now. I paid R700 for the sub and you will need to build a box for it.

I'd also recommend RE for very small enclosures and look good too.
 
Forget to mention. 1st rule of any audio install is look for RMS wattage and not peak power ratings.
