Audio Upgrade For Small Car

My wife has a Spark let me know how this goes as the two speakers in the front are dismal
 
You can get a 4 gauge kit for under R300 at Makro, R699 for 8 gauge is a bit much :wtf:

Amp and speakers should work together however the sub you've chosen looks like DVC.

They either come in dual 2 ohm or dual 4 ohm options which affects the wiring options and final impedance. The amp can essentially only run on variations of 2 ohm or 4 ohm. Wire it at 1 ohm and the amp will struggle and probably damage itself and the sub.

You're going to need a dual 2 ohm wired in series to create 4 ohms on the two bridged sub channel.

Also the bridged sub channel is 125w RMS which may be a bit light for the sub you've chosen. It's max input power is 300w RMS. Amp power and sub power should be matched or thereabouts as a rule of thumb. However the RE sub mentioned above still plays well underpowered. I haven't seen many Kicker installs so I'm not really sure.
 
You cant compare the wiring kit that Makro sells to this Kicker kit. Most of the cheap wiring kits use CCA (copper coated aluminium) instead of pure copper wire hence the low price. Kicker uses pure copper.

So an update.

The 4" speakers just slot into the dash, I have them powered via the deck as it provided enough power.

10" DVC in a slim box, the box cost me R450. It performs awesomely without annoying anyone, so nobody's windows rattle lol. The amp still needs to be mounted.
 
Edit : Nice job you did, here is what I would have done.

Depending on what model it is (LT or LS) it will either have 4 speakers or only 2 in front. Either way the wiring will be there to fit speakers in the back if you have the 2 speaker model. With a bit of luck you might be able to fit 5.25" speakers in the rear speakers pods - but I cannot guarantee this.

A few years ago I went through the same exercise on a Corsa Lite. I only used the designated speaker mounts and upgraded from two 5.25" speakers in front to 3-way 6.5" in front and 2-way 5.25" in the back - massive improvement.

Seeing as you want to keep the factory fitted head unit I would get the best 4" speakers possible for the front. The rear pods take a weird sized 4x6" speaker but if you use universal mounting strips you should be able to fit some 5.25" speakers. So I would get me some of these :

Yeah I have a model with 2 speakers in the front, when getting the boot measured for the box I found out about rear speaker pods but it has to be cut out so I wasn't up for that. I'm happy with the 2 front speakers.
 
Stock speakers do suck, I was looking at putting in two rear speakers but they are an awkward size. Not even sure I can get oem ones.

I got one as a rental for a month in 2013, even as the Campus I had it wasn't bad. The seat was the right setup for my 191cm, after having that for a month. We ended up buying my wife one, but the L which has a few extra features over the Campus. She didn't want electric windows after seeing the issues I've had with electric things.

Nice and clean. Are you using all 4 channels to run the sub?

Nope only 2 channels. The guy who did the setup is a neighbour, when we first wired up the speakers to the deck he said it sounded fine, today he hinted about wiring them up to the amp. He's kinda of an audiophile, his system has Rockford components. He has some free time and it has turned into some kind of project for him, he's getting some LED's to shine off the perspex, so its win win lol.

You can get a set of rear speakers and mount them on top of the box.
