auto gearbox service

Be sure to check your prop shaft as well. I had the same and had the gearbox serviced at an independent mechanic here in Bloem. The problem came back within a month.

Turns out the root cause was the prop shaft.

1 of my 2009 C200 kompressor clutches is causing vibrating under acceleration. needs to be repaired / replaced

looking for a decent experienced automatic transmission service company.
Are there no Mercedes dealerships with workshops in your area?

Had a local mechanic check all the usual things underneath.

They did find a problem with the left engine mounting, which they replaced but that made the vibration under acceleration worse, so they called in an expert on automatic gearbox and he said it's the 2nd clutch thats juddering.

He suggested a gearbox oil additive that will temporarily help. Either way I'm in for a new set of clutches.

Main one in canal walk, but I'm not going to pay their exorbitant rates on a 16yr old car.

Once I needed to replace the right hand side small dashboard vent. It's about 30mm diameter. MB canal walk wanted to sell me the whole freaking dashboard 🤬

What type of gearbox is it, CVT I’m assuming considering it has clutch packs?

So why can’t the expert you already have do it?

1) I want a secound opinion.
2) I've never met this so called "expert" so I don't know his skill level.
3) he took car for a test drive and then delivered his opinion.
4) he wants R6k to flush the gearbox and add some magic additive.

so before I get ripped off - I'd like another "expert" opinion preferably one with good recomedations

not CVT. apparently it is a dual clutch system, he says the 4th & 5th (overdrive) clutch is the problem child

Well that explains the R6k then as the oil alone would be around R2000-R3000.

But by the very same token an additive isn’t going to fix it.

I had mine serviced at Malmesbury Merc when the car asked for a transmission service. Their prices are decent and they know the car. Same gearbox, a full service with gearbox oil and filters was R7k. I have not had to replace the clutch pack yet, but they told me that would be around the R7k mark also.

Have the same issue with the wifes renault clio, all the clutchs/ clutch packs are being replaced plus the gearbox wiring harness is apparently damaged and needs to be replaced but the mechanic is battling to find another one so the car has been out of commission for over a month already. I really dislike auto cars , i dont even like driving her car, its goes nowhere slowly LOL

Try Enduro gearbox in Alrode Alberton. They specialize in Merc's . I had my A8's box done there years ago.

Can speak to Luke there ,he knows his stuff.
