Dave, there's trolling and then there's just you being a douchebag. Guess which you're guilty of above.
It’s an on topic query regarding the Audi posted in Fiesta’s post.

They don’t mention anything about the intensity of the brake lights whilst parked in dark pizza drive-thrus, do they?
Not really. If you want I can always ask (Cars.co.za) Dave & see what he says.
Though he may think I be trolling him.

Ok yes, so in most Polo reviews, the foreign journos all made a big deal of the SS. Now that I've driven it a bit myself, I agree it's a more aggressive system than the one in my BMW (it literally will cut out while you're still coasting to a stop), so the way to overcome the lag of the restart is to lift off the brake quickly just before your car can start moving. In my BMW I got into the habit of just hitting the button to disable the SS every trip, so I'll probably start doing that in the Polo too.@Foxhound5366 your feedback is needed on this thread wrt SS on your new Polo.
I don't have it but it's definitely not a feature I have on.my shortlist when doing car shopping. In JHB I want to the car running all the time so I can put my foot down and get going if I need to at a hijack hotspot robot.

Yup, I wear that button out in my cars. I find it super crap that it won't remember the setting. Who decided that was necessary? It's my car. If you give me a button to do something with, why must I be forced to press it every time? Here Are The Most Overrated Features In Modern Cars

Here Are The Most Overrated Features In Modern Cars - Jalopnik
The number of features in modern cars is at levels never seen before. And not all the features are useful or needed. Some can be annoying for being intrusive. Others can start out useful but quickly outgrow their usefulness.jalopnik.com

Stop start is automatically disabled if the car feels the current battery draw is too high. So when I have my aircon on and it's a hot day, for example, stop-start will often be disabled. I understand WHY stop start exists, but what I don't know is whether it is legally necessary for car manufacturers to automatically enable it every time the car starts. Why can't it just be sufficient for it to be enabled by default? Then it's the user's choice if they wish to disable it. Which the button allows them to do anyway, so all you're doing is allowing the button to remember their preference. My car's "drive mode" button (right next to stop start to add insult to injury) remembers whether I leave the car in sport, eco or comfort ... so it's 100% possible. It's not that it won't remember, it's programmed to switch on when starting the car so that the manufacturer can say the car is more environment friendly.
Oddly enough, stop-start has never worked in my Grandland X regardless of the button. Might have to do with the 220v plug in the back which I have a portable DVD played plugged into for the kid .
My previous Audi's stop-start also stopped working, and when car went for service, i told them and the fixed it. I am guessing there's a "trip switch" that once tripped, needs to be enabled via one of those plug in computer jobbies?
Thanks. Will keep this in mind when I want to have a motorplan cancelled.Anyone (in Johannesburg) looking to disable/set SS to default on any F or G series BMWs, feel free to PM me.
