Hi,

I was wondering if it's possible to switch between 2 different internet connects.

I have the RAIN LTE and Telkom LTE.

The two modems are the B315 and when I use either one I plug it into my main switch which has it own access points for WiFi.

The problem I face now is that I have to do this manually. Is it possible to do this another way?

I was thinking of two smart plugs for each modem. Have both plugged into the main switch and turn one on and the other off?

Your suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Thanks..

I have done my setup with a timer made from an ESP8266 which switches the power at the right time to whichever router needs to be on. They are both setup identically and feed into a switch. It works very well.

Some other guys here have done it in a more sophisticated way with a load balancer doing the job. Perhaps a neater way of doing things.

I'm going to try this out

Could easily be done with a gateway router running a smart operating system that supports load balancing and schedules.

Mikrotik
OpenWRT
DD-WRT
Tomato
pfSense
Sophos UTM

Have the same combo but b315 rain and B525 telkom. Connected b315 Wan to B525 lan1. Timer to enable telkom B525 between 6 and 11.
Seemed the easiest way .

Had tried routing through my old zyxel, but wasn't able to enable second Wan port, if I can find a way to use it as extender, it'll be the best R69 I ever spent.

I used to use:

a) a proxy switcher add-on in my browser.
b) a batch file that changes IP details (my default gateway).

both my internet facing links were connected to the LAN 24/7

I merely cose which one I want to use. (from my desktop)
