Automatic organ donation

although im sure 2 of her organs were donated by a plastic surgeon..

Lol I went to a Jewish school and there were some but not as many as you'd hope. :p

With the corruption in this country, you must be mad.

Under this system, instead of jumping the available organ queue like Manto did, one could
"arrange" for organs to *become* available - particularly if one happens to be a big name in health care.

"I'm sorry Mrs. Smith but Mr Smith experienced 'unforeseen complications' during his regular-as-bread appendectomy. Take pride in the fact that his liver is now serving the country for the greater good of all our comrades."

Exactly, or maybe they just wouldn't try to resuscitate you as vigorously as they should...

mmm...This is good news to me...So i can still "hit" on a nice 23 year 'ol bokkie?? Damn...There goes my age ;)

rofl!!!!!!she was 26,i give u her number and u can break up the happy union and as a reward il give u the finest cheese!

Without subscribing to the prevailing culture of thread-derailment, here's something I never realised about my post: *can* a man donate a liver to a woman? Is it medically feasible?

One day, I hope to be rich. Here's how I will benchmark my wealth: (A) when F.N.B. give me a free diary and (B) when I can afford to permanently employ someone to fact-check my forums posts. Sigh... dreams...

im sure its been done..like the 1st ever heart transplant(which took place in SA)an young woman was killed in a motor vehicle accident(she was a pedestrian i believe)and they used her heart to transplant into a man...i dont see why a liver would be too different,i know they are completly different organs..but are male/female livers really any different?

perhaps someone could clear this up?

well i was brought up in the minority that was taught organ donating is not on unless u want to be resurrected without those organs

I'm not jewish but your comment reminded me of Louis Washkansky , a Lithuanian jew who was the recipient of the first heart transplant.

Seemed a bit unfair to accept organs but not to offer them so I did some research.

Now we both know something we didn't.

:D

Louis Washkansky was from parow i believe, used to be a huge jewish community there(near me)

i really thought the majority of jews were against organ transplants unless it was vital...thanks for enlightening me ;)

Well most/all organ transplants are vital aren't they?

I'm surprised at the naysayers.

You will have a choice to opt out - it will still be your decision.

There isn't a catch as far as I can see - and the benefits are huge for those needing organs.

Perhaps you might.

I'm against it because it effectively presumes your body is common property which is wrong IMO. And would you really trust the SA gov to administer it properly?

iv just been aurging from a narrow jewish view point, but for others i think it could be good, the problem is what if the donors have some mad diaseases or faulty goods..will an organ stay alive long enough for test to be done?

Debating - not arguing :-)

I'm sure the tissue-typing process etc would pick up any problems.

I believe Austria implements this policy, Spain to an extent - so they must have figured out the loopholes.
