Autostyle tyres and tyre prices

I was at Hi Q today and asked for a quote. They have Pirellis on special for R1550 but I don't know what model they are. But my biggest surprise was the price different on Continentals between TwT and Hi Q at TwT they Contis were R 3800 an same size tyre R2500 at Hi Q! What a difference.

I always call all the tyre places in the area when Im looking
you will be amazed at some of the prices

I have the Achilles 2233s on two cars. Much quieter than the hankooks I had on before, and as for grip, an slk32 pulled one car length from me at launch.
 
I replaced the stock Khumo's on my Cerato with Toyo Proxes T1 Sport and the difference is like night and day.
Not sure how long the Toyo's are going to last but they grip like crazy and are quiet and comfortable.
Best tyre's I've ever put on my vehicle so far and they are about half the price of Conti's.
Using Hankook Ventus on my wife's RunX and they're also not bad at all.

Conti's, Michelin, etc. are just too expensive and don't last long enough to warrant the extra cost.
e.g. If a Conti was able to last twice the distance of a Hankook then maybe it would be worth it.
 
Hmm I see AutoStyle sell All Terrain tyres as well.....

Must investigate this a bit more I thinks.

Not sure what to make of that, is it good or bad?
The only thing I like about Achilles is the look and the stretch it gives. Granted I havent used it yet. Im thinking of getting 20" wheels, Achilles is the cheapest tyre with a 30 profile. Will investigate more.

LOL ever been in an SLK32AMG? Supercharged V6, rear wheel drive. 0-100 in 5 seconds.
For a FWD car to keep up with that, it's gotta have decent traction ;)

Bought 2 complete sets for both my cars from him last week. My Bmw X5 40d M runflats stung like crazy when I replaced 2 damaged tyres with TWT a year or so ago. His prices are really keen, and he delivers.

RWD are not the best at take offs.
I guess I was right, very hard compound in the Achilles caused you to lose traction! :D

Lol you think front wheel drive is quicker off the line than rear wheel drive?

They won't last very long, especially if you drive hard.

Wtf. Weight transfer when accelerating means rear wheels have more traction than front wheels...
