I've seen a Chrome extension referenced by several UK-based Youtube car channels as being a great resource for those inetrested in purchasing a vehicle to ensure they get a great deal. It's called AT Price Tracker - unfortunately it only works on the UK version of AutoTrader. I tested it by installing the extension on Chrome and went to the Autotrader.co.uk and can confirm it seems to work as advertised.

I reached out to the developer, Chris, regarding having the same functionality work on the SA version of AT. He advised that the underlying platforms are completely different, but if there was 100+ installations of the extension from South Africa, then he will work on creating a South Africa specific version of the Chrome extension for our version of AT. Link to developer's website: https://at.liprock.com/

Does this sound like functionality some of you would be interested in having access to? If so, perhaps we could get to the threshold number by installing the extension and get our very own version of it.

For anyone interested, I've received an email from Chris saying that they've now completed the necessary development work and that we can now use the tool to track price changes on the local version of AT! They are charging a small amount for the feature though (R35pm / R385 annually) but of course it could save you a few thousand Rand.

This is a great tool. Anyone in the market for a car would be silly not to pay R35 to see if they are getting fleeced.
