Avatar hist $1billion at box office

Avatar, the most expensive film ever, could also be on track to be the most successful as it broke the 1-billion- dollar mark at box offices worldwide over the weekend.

Since its opening last month, the 3D sci-fi spectacular has taken in 352.1 million dollars in North America alone and 1 billion dollars worldwide.

This weekend, Avatar added another 68.3 million dollars in North American box offices, setting a new record for a film in its third week. That record had previously been held by Spider-Man with 45 million dollars.

If Avatar is to become the most successful film of all time it will have to beat the last blockbuster by its director James Cameron. Titanic remains at the top with 1.8 billion dollars at the box office.

This movie might not be for all...but has to one of my favorites in a long time. The only regret I got is not watching this at IMAX....I might actually still go do that.

It is probably on the top but it would be really stupid to watch it that way. The movie is well worth the 3D experience. I watched in both 2D and 3D. Funny enough I found both compliment each other as you see things in 2D that you miss in the 3D and the 3D is the more imersive experience.

Also saw it in 3D - amazing!! Its not even worth pirating as you won't be able to see it in 3D

Titanic in $1.8Billion in 1997 dollars... Avatar has to get at least $2.4Billion to reach the scope Titanic did in real value...
But that aside, great movie, watched it twice, and is still sold out every night here

Pretty much. The story is a fairly run of the mill good vs. bad one.

Yes, but that doesn't mean the story is bad. It is just an Ok to fairly decent story. Nothing you haven't heard before. But the movie is still highly recommended! I've seen it twice in 3D, plan to go to Imax 3D next.
