Average ADSL Speeds with Telkom

Hi Peeps, I hope you all are well.

In these last two weeks, I have been on the line with Telkom for days, to try and sort out my ADSL speed issues.

I am currently on a 4mb Uncapped account with Telkom. After holding on the line with them for days, they have some absurd reasoning into speeds being on average anywhere from 2mb upwards. I did mention to them that previously when I had an account with them which was also a 4mb uncapped, I was getting average speeds of about 3.3-3.5mbps. Now I am getting 2.14mbs on average. When I perform a speedtest on www.speedtest.net these are the figures I get`:

This test was done this morning.

Surely 2mbps on a 4mb line is too slow??? Also, should I consider changing over to another ISP? I currently game a lot of my kid streams youtube videos every night.

Could I get some advise? Maybe ISP's which have overall the best average speeds for a 4mb Uncapped line?

2Mbps is not terrible for a 4Mb line.
1.8mbsp is average for a 2Mb line.

So your line speed isn't great but it is in line with their offering of upto 4Mb speed.

So Electric, basically you are saying that I should pay R200 more for 200kbps increase to speed? I feel that is crazy. Well I did just sign up to mwebs FREE 4mb Uncapped trial just now, and guess what, I did several speed tests and they are giving me 3.4-3.6mbps on average. Looks like I will be switching over to them sooner than later. Is there anyone else that can offer higher speeds constantly?

^ as per Rickster the sync rate & related stats become important when there are such problems. Do you have access to your router's management page? Pull the stats and post here
