avi files and the Mac

I hope someone can help. I've been able to play every avi file that I have on my mac up until now. Up until last week that is. I've got a few avi's now that only play the first 20-30 seconds of maybe an hour or so but if i copy them to my WinXP machine they play just fine. I know very little about video files so I'm just going to guess - codecs? I've checked that my flip4mac and divx codecs are up to date on my mac but still no joy.

Hope there's someone that can help.

No - but people get capped internationally and cant even access google to do the search.

3gb doesnt go all that far along today's multimedia rich information superhighway.
