Avid and FCP question

does anybody know if an Avid Xpress DV and Final Cut Pro/Studio can be loaded on one workstation? i don't have any specs for a specific workstation though. could they both run on one powerpc perhaps?

I dont see why not - though I would sooner run both on an intel mac.

like a Mac Pro Quad-Core Intel Xeon? i guess the 3.0GHz would work with both the NLE's better than the 2.66 and 2.0GHz?

AVID makes a mac version right? If you had to you could always run bootcamp and have Windows as well as OsX on the same machine - though not running simultaneously. I dont think parallels could handle the intensive graphics which is why I'm not suggesting it.

yeah, Avid does run on both Mac and PC. i'm sure the poor Mac will crash if both programs are running at the same time? but i guess we wouldn't be doing that anyway. i think that running combustion on the same workstation as FCPstudio and Avid Xpress will be just be suicide, huh?

Its really hard to crash a mac - the occasional application might go down but it rarely takes the OS with it. That's the beauty of UNIX baby

You should see the sheer number of apps I have running just on my little mini at any given time - much of it intensive rendering work - and it chugs along happily.

It might be slow, but RAM will probably be the biggest concern. It def. wont crash it though.

What would you guys say is the best combo in order for me to run Avid Xpress DV, FCStudio, and Combustion/After Effects all on one workstation?
