Hi everyone

I'm fed up with 1-Grids reoccurring billing issues. A domain has expired as I assumed my card will get debited automatically as always.
Instead 1-Grid is blaming me on their system failure as the invoice was generated, but not paid automatically.

Looking for a cost effective host (pay annualy and forget solution )that will also transfer from c-panel to c-panel (email accounts).
+/- 20 co.za domains
10GB space usage
Static/html websites

What do you suggest?

Thanks!

webspacebar.co.za is running a special at the moment, R100 for 20gig disk space used, overselling is enabled so its not capped at disk space assigned its capped at usage.
Last time I spoke to them they spun up a reseller package for me without needing to pay anything, only the following month was invoiced.
Maybe take them for a test drive ?
Their kit is in Cape Town.

Unfortunately they have had significant downtime issues in the last couple of months.
More than "past few months" but hey only handful (if not one or two fingers of) people know how to use the search function on any social platform or read pins/motds.

I guess this is a stupid question, but I am also looking for a new host with the following requirements:

  • Can park my .co.za domain
  • Can host a mailbox (which is allowed to send low/moderate volume transactional emails like sign up confirmations)
  • Allow DNS record modification to redirect to my actual web server
Any recommendations?

I was looking at truehost, but need to do more research as per post #7

I was hoping to connect to a 1-Grid rep on here...having the same issue. They messed up billing AGAIN...and want me to pay a R50 reconnect fee! Yes, not a huge amount but tis the principle...and this is not the first time either they have done this with me...

Not a stupid question at all — this is actually a pretty common setup.

Yes, you can park a .co.za domain, host a normal mailbox (perfect for things like sign-up confirmations), and still point your DNS records to your actual web server. A lot of people run exactly this type of split setup.

On our side for example, we keep it simple:
  • Domain parking is included
  • Mailboxes support standard business sending
  • Full DNS control (A, CNAME, MX, TXT)
  • We can assist with Cloudflare if you prefer that route
  • And there’s also a premium CloudDNS option for clients who need high-uptime DNS

If you want to see everything in one place, here’s the overview page:

If you want, let me know your exact setup and I can point you in the right direction without over-complicating things.

It sounds like you just want something simple and predictable, especially if you’re managing a bunch of .co.za domains.

For static sites and normal email use, a cPanel → cPanel transfer is straightforward, and moving 20 domains isn’t a big deal as long as the host handles the DNS changes properly. Annual billing is also the easiest way to “set and forget” so you don’t run into expiry surprises again.

On our side for example, we keep it pretty simple with:
  • Annual billing available
  • Full cPanel-to-cPanel transfers (emails included)
  • Domain parking and .co.za management
  • Normal static/html sites run perfectly on standard SSD hosting

If you want, I can help you compare a few options based on your exact setup.
