Avoid Windows 10, PC tech support tells clients

Windows 10 is a god as already mentioned. You spend hours to configure it to suit your needs. After that you discover that Windows do not obey your instruction. It doesn't even listen to Group Policy settings. I disabled automatic updates and after two weeks it comes with this screen:

Worse than UAC. It blocks any operation unless you press "Get updates" button.

I can't go beyond Windows 8 on my laptop, Samsung wont release a updated driver for my Ati 7660, it is available in 8.1 and maybe 10 in beta form, but then everything is just slooooow. Also Windows 10 and pastel don't work together, well it works, but with errors.

Not had a day of trouble with Windows 10, but Office 2016 is a complete heap of crap right now. Trying to save VBA scripts force closes Excel and it's impossible to save a macro, while Outlook refuses to save domains marked as safe to download external content...

Office 2016 is a disaster re. Exchange Server. It does not work with Exchange 2007. We have 2 clients still running nicely on Exchange 2007, but when they buy new hardware the also require Office with it and only 2016 is available at distributors.

So it is either IMAP (which does not give the exchange experience the clients requires and is used to) OR client must start buying hideously expensive Office 2016 OLP and then downgrade to 2013 media.

Clients making use of Hosted Exchange at MWeb also cannot use Office 2016. Luckily we have migrated a lot of our smaller clients to Microsoft Hosted Exchange, but our clients with more than 150 users, does not want to spend R 9000 per month.

What a joke....

Office 2016 will get release packages in the coming months I'll only use it after those initial patches cause the office 2016 I pirated out of curiosity made me think it's not even worth the "free" tag.

There's been a couple of huge updates for both the Windows and Mac versions of Office 2016 that has helped a lot but Outlook i still the most unstable app on both platforms for me.

I've upgraded one of my PC's to Windows 10 TH but I still have to mess around with it to see what's new. However, i've had almost no issues with Windows 10 so far. Prefer it over Windows 7 and Windows 8.1.

I have a couple of over 70 year old clients who carried out the auto upgrade without assistance.

The only problem was with an HP MFP where the lady call a very large company for support and they failed because they knew nothing about Windows; the solution was not Win 10 specific.

I think that many of the 'reinstall Windows' type support (sic) are being caught out simply because people are expecting problems and seing ghosts.

This is assuming he knows how to get to the Device Manager and what do yellow question marks mean. <g>
