[-]So some screenshots from the technical demo of Getaway for the PS3 have hit the net...

holy **** they look awesome....

If these are real ingame shots and at the moment there is no reason to doubt that then the PS3 is about to take the gfx crown away from Gears of War....

Doobiwan was kind enough to do some more investigating and to find that these shots where taken in 2005. Which would be over 2 years ago and 18 months before the PS3 was even released.

I am now calling bull **** on these images.

Damn that's cool...

The only bad thing is you will have to get a HDTV to get the best picture out of your games.. HDTV @ +- R9000-R15000 ouch......:sick:

You are also going to need a HDTV to get the best out of your movies... oh and sports in 2009....

I actually think a lot of people buying PS3's or 360's these days already have HDTV's, or are thinking of buying one anyway?
 
The Getaway screens are missing the religious preacher on the microphone and the dudes with the placards for the Golf Shop sale only 100m away. Oh, and where are the pigeons. And the German tourists and the fat locals blimping out of Burger King. And I think all the pictures are fake because the sun is shining. Maybe they're all actually from the game.
 
lol I was also wondering about the sun :D...

That idiotic Golf Sale sign should be in the game, it is always on that street, the longest sale ever ;)
 
Yeah well nearly.

Killzone 2 is being made by SCEA (Sony America) and the Getaway is being made by SCEA and SCEE London....

you think they are lying?
 
well... ya, and imagine in 2 or so years time! the ps3 will look incredible, and if you not getting it, then look at the ps2, games like black really look impressive,

You Know a little investigative journalism goes a long way. GM, I started pondering when you didn't post a link :p

following the small lead the picture provides I traced the source of the pics. And what's most interesting is their release date. This may or may not be a new picture, but the composite shots date back (all bar one) to May . . .

So it looks most likely to fall under the "target render" category typical of E3 '05, like Motostorm and Killzone.
 
Don't stress Gav, it's Web 2.0, as long as it sounds good, or looks good, it's post worthy. credibility is a complete non issue these days, it just gets it the way of good stories. ;)

I'm sure you've seen some of my posts . . . :p
 
bleh I normally check but I couldn't find much about it and I have been told I am a Xbox fanboy so I am always keen for good PS3 stories. They are so hard to find though ;)

I should shut it down, I'm a semi dedicated 360 fanboy now, maybe I should compete with you . . . . :D
