We currently run our website hosted on Digitalocean Amsterdam, and we are very happy with it. Until the international links go down. All our customer base is in SA.

So we would like to host in SA, but have had too many problems with local hosting co's - I'm deaf to the howls of outrage, sorry but local in this instance is definitely not lekker. Been there multiple times.

It seems AWS CT is the best option, but we need someone who offers hosting/managed hosting on AWS CT servers as the person who will run the business in future is not technically savvy enough to handle EC2 comfortably on her own.

Setting up on EC2 is not that much different than DO, but I'd like to simplify even that for the future.

Any suggestions please?

Hundreds of APN members out there. Depends on requirements.

We've worked well with EoH on some deployments but that was more for capacity than expertise. That being said, very competent team.

I've had a lot of good experience with Hetzner (now Xneelo), I know you are deaf on the subject, but just saying.

But AWS obviously in a different league as far as scale of services and worldwide network goes. I'll PM you separately on that.

Better to go with Domains.co.za you can migrate that droplet very easily.

So in the Same boat as the OP, we run on GCP and need to bring it local. Basically just a postgress with GIS and some containers.
