Axxess 626 - Who's using? How is it?

Just want to use it for gaming, and the odd video/browsing here and there.

Quick question, are you doing any local downloading (nzb/torrents) with this account or using another account for that?

Sorry this might be offtopic and kind of a n00b question but how can u be sure that the nzb/torrents u download are begin used up by your local cap and not ur Int one? Always wanted to know that! =]

Note there is no connectivity on public holidays.

I swear it was there when I signed up for mine, but now these no mention of it on their webpage...

Thanks for the heads up. Will definitely address this with them before signing up.

I have a 2Gig prepaid with them...so far very happy. No connectivity yesterday of course (public holiday). Signed up online...totally painless with a credit card. Took about 10 minutes.

Now if I get this, is there a difference btw the cost of a 512 and a 1 meg line? Will I have to pay different rental fees to Telkom?

bumpity bump? Please could someone explain how the cost of the 626 differs on different line speeds? Is it just a case of paying telkom more for renting a faster line, or is there an extra cost to axxess as well?

Thanks for the article. But honestly, I think I'll be fine with just the 626 running. All I need to know is how its costs change depending on what line speed I go for.

correct me if I am wrong, but I am on a 4MB connection and took out a 3GB-626 for R144 which means R48 per gig. I still get the 4MB speed though. (In my opinion the cheapest international gig around - or?)

If you on Discovery Vitality, you can get R44 a gig int :)

I have used it for a while now when my Telkom account gets capped. Very happy. I have a 4mb line and the 626 generally outperforms the Telkom account. My wife (she isn't into IT at all) actually prefers the 626 account cause she says it is faster...:)

Yes yes, but how do I make sure I get a 1meg line then? I have a 384 line with telkom, and want to stop using telkom and only have a 626. Is the 626 the same price regardless of linespeed? Do I only pay the different linespeed costs to telkim?

Ok. Your line speed depends on the line you rent from telkom. You don't have to get bandwidth from telkom.

The 384line rental is R152 last I checked. You can also get the line via axxess, but they just order the line from telkom for you.

384,512, and 1meg/4meg all have different line rental prices. Your bandwidth costs stays the same regardless of the line you have. There's no point with 512. It's such a big jump from 384, but then a small jump to 1/4meg.

Depending on how far you are from the exchange though, you might not get the full 4meg.

Thanks for the great post Qwiksilver. But do I have to pay the R129 per month for telephone as well?

So the cheapest 626 I could get is this:
R129 telephone rental
+R159 for 384k line
+cost of axxess account and bandwidth?
