Axxess, cancellation challenges

So, I have just recently switched from my old ISP to Axxess, no contacts, no obligations (according to the signup page) , no router (I did not want one), no installation, just a simple switch from one ISP to another . I am terribly disappointed with the service and decided to give a month's notice as stipulated. I have already paid to get an upgrade in a desperate attempt to get Youtube to stop buffering for example. Now this is where it gets interesting. They have been bombarding me with little snippets from who knows where, there is no context given, trying to explain why they insist on a R999 penalty should you leave in less than 6 months. I cannot believe they are so desperate to hold onto a clearly unhappy customer, that they would risk more damage (I see plenty complaints on HelloPeter) to their reputation.
