Well I have just enough storage space to last me this month. Lets see how this month goes :p
 
Basically since Axxess moved to MTN the news.is.co.za no longer works

I can confirm the following work for axxess

news.internet.co.za 119

news.afrihost.co.za 119

5 connections

I also want to add some key words to make this more searchable as I battled to find this information

Mine doesn't work atm, it keeps connecting, downloading article nd then goes back to conencting all in a seond, there's no speed at all, and this is on a 4 day old article....anyone else having the same problem?...this started a few days ago :(

Hi guys,

Is it just me or is everybody else experiencing slow speeds on all news downloads?

It doesn't matter which news server I use, but it seams to be "locked" or "throttled" down to 1MB?

I have a 5MB line with 4MB uncapped, but cannot DL faster than 1MB?!?!?!

I have tested this with a totally different account and it then runs at full 5MB speeds????

Any idea what is going on?
Is Afrihost now throttling NNTP???

That throttling at 40gb is a fallacy.

I have clapped 170gb this month and my nzb still comes in at full speed. ~950Kb\s
 
Nope! Still "locked" to 1MB on ALL downloads, whether it's HTTP or NNTP!

I never, ever use torrents, so can't tell you what those speeds are like, only Newsgroups.

Only done 70GB on Afrihost, but I bought a separate 100GB local only account from Openweb and speeds run 100% on that. That is also almost done!


So I just don't know what is going on with Afrihost/Axxess!

They claim that they are having problems with the uncapped accounts, but nobody is will to even try and fix mine for me!

It is so annoying! I also get constant disconnects when using my Afrihost account!
Worst part is when I connect to my work servers via VPN, it knocks me off every few minutes!
With my other local only account, it runs perfectly!

I have actually given up trying to speak to support at Afrihost cause I just keep getting the same things over and over...
"Let me reset your line..."
"Please restart you PC and modem"
"Run a speed test" - This always runs at 4MB regardless!!!

And because of that, they say there is no problems!

Deanos, think you should contact Afrihost. Axxess and Afrihost use the same MTN network but as far as I know they run different systems to "manage" users. The guy that lives 2 house from us uses Afrihost and it's shocking. But when he uses my Axxess account to test with, everything works 100%.

I have done so many times!
As I said in the previous post....


I recon I'm fighting a loosing battle!

This from a mail I received from their "so called" Technical Director:

"As per our conversation ,please test today and advise if you still have any issue's.
We are still tweaking the settings and should be 100% by the end of today.
If you still have any issue's,please let me know and I will assist you with the cancellation.

Thank you and take care."


Seems like these guys don't even give a damn!
"If it still doesn't work, then I'll help you with the cancellation"! WTF?!?!?!?!

I'll give them another call again sometime!
Just costs a fortune cause they don't have a toll free number and you hold for 20 mins before anybody answers!
 
What I joke. Since this change to MTN I've also never get higher than 1MB. LEss than a quarter than what I used to get. Bunch of tossers!
