Axxess Support

Hi jdido87,

The premium Uncapped account is semi-shaped, meaning it is subject to an AUP.
"The Axxess Protocol Manager is used to provide all uncapped users on our network with the best possible internet experience. During peak network times, we give priority to real time services (such as browsing, email, streaming etc), high bandwidth services such as NNTP, Peer-to-Peer and Torrents (and similar but not limited to) will receive less priority."

AUP doesn't apply with regards to shaping, do you mean semi throttled? I would like to move to something cheaper perhaps than where I am, but they only shape when the network's busy, which isn't a lot. Am I right in saying that my Premium Uncapped with my current ISP will deliver a better service than this one? I can't remember when the network was last shaped, and I have downloaded over 300GB many months on 4Mb/s.

I am in Lakeside CT as well and have been having very poor performance so far with my new 10meg line from Axxess.. During Sept there were some Telkom issues down here, perhaps they are ongoing, regardless axxess lady you have mail!

Also in Lakeside, also been having issues, speeds not as they should be ,Telkom , come check, say no issue and the process continues. I do have an open support ticket though.

ADSL seems to be very good, I am on a 400GB capped account, so its not shaped, and I have also used some of the free time (pity their free time is only from 0:00 to 06:00, which is really the only complaint so far), and Steam last night was downloading 6GB per hour so that is very good. Speed has dropped a bit this morning for some reason, which is a bit irritating, but not by much.

The only odd thing is Windows 10 updates are very slow to download, and with the recent patch Tuesday this week, the updates were very slow, Downloading the updates manually was extremely quick, so some setting is not correct.

P2P every during the peak hours was running qt 100% line speed, which is something I never got while with Afrihost (odd as both companies use the same network)

Same network, different shaper/management, as you've found out.

Yep my Windows 10 updates were also pretty slow, but I'm on AfriHost atm so I suspect its a microsoft server issue.
Thanks for the feedback - there's not much of it regarding Axxess on the forums, so this is all good to know.

I would point to shaping for this like what's happening in Durban during peak on capped accounts.

They (any ISP) can say these unshaped capped accounts aren't shaped until the cows come home, but any network has to shape at the end of the day to avoid congestion if supply can't meet demand.

I requested for a line upgrade on 10 July 2019, from 8Mbps to 20Mbps still waiting for an update from axxess with regard to, no timeline given as to the completion of line upgrade status

Hi @haroldj, please PM your account details so I may assist.
Apparently the information on the openserve website was misleading, it says 20Mbps no matter how many time I do a line speed check, the openserve technician says that my maximum line speed is still synching at 6Mbps and cannot upgrade to 20Mbps and that I should change to Telkom Lte if I want higher speeds.

Can you get Fibre in your area?
