Axxess has just cut their uncapped pricing by dropping all packages one price level down.

https://www.axxess.co.za/uncapped

1Mbps -> R165 (Was R195)
2Mbps -> R195 (Was R295)
4Mbps -> R295 (Was R375)
10Mbps -> R375 (Was R675)
20Mbps -> R675 (Was R995)
40Mbps -> R995

Edit: Mods please fix the title, should be slashed

Is this to do with the upgrade and will my price then increase to the next level when Telkom upgrades me?
Talk about kicking Mweb when they are down :) ;)

Yes, your price will decrease now and then you can switch to whichever higher speed Telkom gives you.

Currently on 136GB for this month on my 10Mb account and not being managed at the moment.

The past month has been pretty bad as their network had been taking strain but they are working on improving it, actually surprised that I'm not on managed during the day today.

Well until they change their ridiculous rolling window throttling/shaping policy I won't even consider them. Great move on the pricing and might force a few hands, but being throttled for a few gigs of usage is just ridiculous...

Other than the last month or so my account hadn't been managed in ages. I know it was quite bad when they just switched over to the MTN network a 10Mb line would get managed at 30GB for the first couple of months, things have improved quite a lot since then.

The performance the last month has been poor and not what I was experiencing before, I'll stick with them for next month to see if it improves, they are working on the issue, and at R375 for a 10Mbps account vs nearly double that anywhere else I can live with being managed every now and then.

Do they include steam and origin in the download per month category?

I don't mind the shaping/throttling or whatever their word of the day is. It just bothers me when my ping to EU servers hits 500+ when I'm on a 10mb uncapped account.

Besides that, the prices are pretty impressive.

Just a quick question.

When my account is managed, it is only P2P and HTTP downloading that is managed, right? But is it managed 24/7 or only during business hours? What is after hours with Axxess?

How are you guys finding gaming during the day? And streaming (Hulu, Youtube)? Thinking of taking them up on the free upgrades deal. Doesn't look like Openweb will be doing the same, so trying to figure out if I'll actually see some benefit between getting 10Mbps with Axxess vs the 4Mbps Gamers King account with Openweb.

Hi Kalster,

In response to your question - Should your account become managed we will only manage your Peer to Peer, HTTP download and NNTP traffic. We will manage an account as long as the load on the network is high.

Axxess Lady, when will current subscribers see the price reduction as my renewal still shows R495 for next month?

So it isn't just limited during the day? That won't work for me then. That is worse than what I am getting now.

I'll do max 300GB on my 4Mbps account, with P2P, HTTP download and NNTP limited during the day (7AM to 5PM) and I generally get full speed the rest of the time. Too bad.

Hi Grim,

You are on the R495 for life special, these accounts will not be upgraded as part of the #BigSummerScoop Campaign. If you would like to benefit from the special you would have to cancel your current account and sign up for a new account. We would not suggest you do so, as the R495 for Life was a limited special and not something you would want to lose. But ultimately it is up to you.

Regards,

The Axxess Lady

I'd rather have a 20Mb account for R675 as I know my area is getting VDSL soon :P

I have an Uncapped 4mbps from axxess (was 2mbps) but I still only have a 2mbps line. I am constantly managed, and badly as well, and for anything I do on the internet (everything from browsing, streaming, downloading etc.). I hardly ever get good speeds and in my CCP my connection is always managed. Support told me I get managed when the load is high in my area, but I'm starting to think that almost no one in my area even uses internet seeing as how I am being managed.

These drop in prices more than likely mean that they will be doubling contention ratios on the packages.

Which means - You compete with more people for speed. No thank you.

However its good that they have done this because this is the first benchmark the ISP's will vs their new proposed pricing against. hmm.

Someone doesn't understand how contention works.

With a 1:20 contention ratio you don't compete against 20 people for speed, you compete against the entire network which as a whole will have a 1:20 contention, so for every 20Mbps they sell they will buy 1Mbps.
