It it me or are there very few feedback threads on Axxess uncapped. They have the promotion 4 to 10M the same price. Petty awesome if works well?

NO news is generally good news.

I've used this account in the past on the IS backbone and it was solid. MTN may be a little different. I signed up towards the end of last month and when the account isn't being managed it's awesome.

I reckon 5gb-7gb a day is about the limit if you want to avoid being managed.

Well they offer prorata so I used it for 7 days at the end of February and I managed to pull 18GB a day with no ptoblem on a 4Mbps account.

Full speed during the day In that 7 days I managed 112GB of data. I thought that was very impressive. I did not max it 24/7 cause I used the line during the day but it was very good actually.

The only problem I have with it is that the latency is not stable if I compare it to IS. Latency is 185ms today to UK but in 5min time it can be 250ms and stay there for maybe a day them come back down. That is the only reason I don't actually use them. Ohh and because the price is little bit more expensive than the competitors which offers good results too.

I was managed by day 3 and at a usage total of 15Gb.

How long ago was this? In the start I know it was bad but now it seem to be WAY better

Last couple of days of February 2013.

So far this month it's been superb!!

75gb's in and running at full throttle.

To scared to reboot my router though. If the line is being managed will a reboot enable the changes? Last time I rebooted that's what happened. I went from full throttle to managed to 6% of max line speed.

enjoy the full throttle till they throttle you and shape you to death.

Still going strong.

Must say I'm mighty impressed with this account at the mo. Just under 150gb and no signs of any throttling or shaping of any kind!!

Great to get good feedback! We aim to please :) We currently have 4 Meg Uncapped available for only R375 per month, so give us a bash. We don't lock you into lengthy contracts so if you're happy you stay and if you're not...then you send us on our way!

Are the DNS issues you are Telkoms' problem?

Our 10mbps account works half the time cause of DNS issues..

Hi, we experienced some issues over the weekend due to a Telkom fault, but please DM us your account details so that we can have a look.

Axxess is very good, I've been with them since they pioneered the 30GB account by cleverly using loopholes to make the 27GB local allowance go through as international bandwidth. I've used the unshaped, uncapped(1Mb,2Mb and 4Mb) and standard accounts and all have performed perfectly to the levels promised. Only problems I ever accounted were mainly outside of Axxess control and usually resolved very quickly. The 24 hour call center is great too, always having someone around to tell you if its them or telkom helps alot.

I've never noticed any sort of shaping on uncapped accounts. I've gamed on overseas servers and ping was comparable to standard accounts, the unshaped shaved off 100-200ms (when pings were 500-700ms on WoW EU servers). I've pushed the 2Mbs account up to 80gigs in a month before, but I've never tried to push it for all its worth. The one MAJOR upside of the 1Mbs and 2Mbs uncapped accounts are they allow for 2 concurrent connections. I don't know of another ISP that does this.

Always good to get some great feedback, especially after a day like today! We aim to please, but unfortunately sometimes we have issues that are out of our control. We thank all of our clients for their patience and understanding.

Pointless trying to get hold of Axxess when there is a problem. The last few times there's been an issue I've patiently held on for over ten minutes - that is my limit - to no avail.

Not sure what is going on, but Axxess appear to be heavily shaping torrent traffic. Local and international speedtests are fine, as are http downloads, but torrents are dead. I was under the impression that Axxess didn't shape this traffic but rather throttled all traffic when the system was overloaded, or something to that effect.

Is this a big fib?

What torrents you downloading? Is Seacom repaired yet?

Axxess and Afrihost don't use SEACOM, but their primary link via EASSy is also experiencing issues. Until that normalises torrents will likely be nearly unusable.

And, as far as I have it DJ..., you've got it precisely the wrong way around. The lines aren't throttled, so you'll always have theoretical access to maximum throughput, but speed is managed on a per-type basis. Shaped, in other words.
