Axxess Uncapped Subscribers Feedback

Spoke too soon - download suddenly dropped to almost nothing although upload was running at 10KBps.

Back to Axxess Lite which is running fine.

To be honest, why do you think they offer AxxessLite, it sure isn't because their uncapped is any good :D Ever wondered why they are the only ones that HAVE to offer something like AxxessLite :whistle: Yeah because if they did not, no one would be using the service.
Hate to say it but I get acceptable downloads from Mweb. Not great but okay. So far this month i have downloaded about 20 gig and uploaded the same. Not a fantastic feat on my 384 line but enough to make me happy.
Still have good pings while gaming if I turn the torrents off.
To think I spent on average about R450 a month with axxess.
Lol I still have three prepaid accounts open with them. Have never bothered to deplete them.
oh well bandwidth for a rainy day ;)

I've been following all the debate about Axxess, as well as other uncapped services, and seeing as I'm currently on Axxess I thought I'd throw my 2 cents in...

I've been on the 4meg line Axxess Uncapped deal as of the 1st of April. For the first week or so there seemed to be no "throttling" or "shaping" at all...Anytime, all the time, from YouTube to torrents, everything was running at full speed. Then the honeymoon ended...

Since the second week or so I've sat with torrent speeds of less than 14kbps from about 6am to 12/1am. Basically the entire day speeds crawl. Usually after 12ish things speed up but I havn't even come close to my initial speeds of 375kbps...at the moment things are running at an acceptable 215kbps, which I shouldn't complain about...However, this speed seems to only last for a few hours a night and makes me begin to wonder if this deal is worth it.

Unfortunately after reading up on the ISP forum pages I can't really see one that is giving anything better than what I'm on right now. I'm not a massive user but I do want to get my money's worth...and for me that is about 150gigs a month, at a reasonable speeds. And before people ask how one can watch that much it goes beyond just movies and series...plus I'm a student and we're supposed to sleep only 6 hours a night!

I have the 384 package on a 512 line and have managed to only download 7gb since April 01. I stopped using the news server after 3 days as it was so slow as to be non-existant. Torrents vary between 2k-and 10k with rare spikes overnight to 40k. Have cancelled already and signed up for their 'Lite' Package which gives me 10gb at the same price with theoretically no throttling. Primary concern is that the Express (what an ironic name) account seems to disregard local usage in your usage stats (says I have only downloaded 2gb), I am hoping that the Lite package works the same else I may find 10gb may be too little (but at R19/gb may not really be an issue).
 
Phoned Axxess a moment ago as my Ping has gone from 320 to 590 in Supreme commander 2. aparantly SAT1 is down and we are getting routed through SAT2, hence the higher pings. Also scheduled maintenance was never done on sunday and is postponed for 2 weeks. Everything should be fine in about 2-3 weeks though.

wow so basically all the Axxess Uncapped subscribers wasted a whole month.
Oh well, I suppose these things happen.
 
The more I use this account, the more I hate it. Glad I've cancelled. I chuckle when I read the MWEB guys complain about 300kb speeds. They should try the erratic and extremley slow speeds IS is delivering ....blah
 
I don't know if it was because of so many people canceling the service, but last night my torrents which usually sit at around 50kb jumped to around 200kb. I can't wait till they sort out all of the teething problems on the IS network.
 
axxess amazed me last night i had 4movies each avg 850mb big u started the download about last night from 10pm woke up this morning all done avg download speed was 150-250 so axxess good job to u guys :)
 
Here's the state of affairs on axxess 384 uncapped currently:

I fired up a 697MB torrent download at 18:00 which finished at 02:43.
Another 1.2GB torrent download was started at 06:00 this am which had slowed to a crawl by 06:30.
Switched back to my axxess lite account 07:00.

The IPCop traffic graph says it all - max speed only kicked in at 21:00.

At the current level of performance I reckon you could download 40 - 50GB a month late at night which is definitely value for money but it does not meet the standards I require during working hours.

So, if Telkom do not come up with something soon. I think I will finally settle for a axxess lite 5GB account coupled with the axxess 384 uncapped - R291/mth.

Although MWeb might seem attractive at the moment I don't trust them for the long term.

yeah last night the speeds finally came in. today its crawling again, but atleast HTTP and FTP seems stable. not getting 4096 speeds as advertised on HTTP, but maybe next month, we'll see...
