Yup, R899. It's good but ofcourse office hours you are very restricted. Sitting at 250Gb at the moment, I love weekends.
 
Hi Guys,

I got an Axxess Uncapped Express (not Express+) 4Mbps account, for R495/month, speeds on torrents were through the roof @ 419kbps on a set of popular torrents.... until... I hit that 50% threshold, now they are shaping me so hard, I cannot open gmail! I thought they would throttle downloads to death, but not normal browsing...

So a word of caution to anyone thinking that they will stop downloading when they hit the 50% level. You will not be able to do anything on your uncapped from that point onward (till the other 4Mbps users pass you)

I hit the 50% at 170Gb in 7 days (since 3rd Jan).

If you are a single user that likes downloading, rather go for the M-Web 4Mbps account, they are not so harsh on implementing there fair usage policy because they were prepared for terabytes of data!

I have a 384kbps M-Web account @ R219/month, and have never had a connection issue, or internet problem, when SEACOM goes offline, they just swop me over to SAIX, and shape my downloads to death, but my browsing and e-mail is as if there was never a problem.

Unfortunately I need the 2 concurrent connections to share the 4Mbps account between work and home, and if my company cannot pay half the price, I cannot have the 4Mbps (hence the 384kbps account).

EDIT: The Axxess Express = "Axxess Just Uncapped 4096"

EDIT: OK, I just connected again and it seems the throttling is gone, my gmail is working and webbrowsing is super fast. It's after hours now so not sure if that count for anything... ok wait no, I had the throttling issue since this morning when I only downloaded 9gig (not 17 as usual) from 12AM to 8AM

Hey man. im on EXACTLY the same one as u, im only on 87gb in 11days since the 1st of jan and my torrents are running at 10kbps. im kinda fed up with this. ive been having this intermittent problem for a while now that it comes and goes. i just cant handle sitting with a 10kbps connection at 9 at night.

is there no way past this bs?

Let me give you an update, after they started throttling me, I thought ok, well since last night I was being throttled, so I thought after a day, I will be back between the masses. Turns out today I'm still not. I'm currently running on another capped account to get my stuff done (so much for "Uncapped").

I send Axxess a ticket asking if I'm still being throttled, and what the 50% average is, so I know when I will start regaining my speed. And they responded by telling met that I'm "DEFINITELY" being throttled at 171Gb in just 11days. He also told met the reason I'm being so badly throttled is because my account is on one star rating out of 5.

I must say I'm ok with the whole rolling thing, but for them to wait until I'm way in over my head before giving me warning, I did so unintentionally. Also if they had limited my speed when I reached point break sooner, I would have stopped my devious behaviour by that time.

Also if they limit my downloads to say 384rate, I will not be able to reach 170gb so soon, and still have 100% browsable rate.

But currently I "unintentionally" killed my account with a 170Gb slam. And now the whole 4mbps account is useless, redering the concept of uncapped misleading.

With a capped account I could have gotten 25Gb of true 6Mbps speed (my linespeed). And then at least I would know when to start reducing my usage, as I near my cap limit. But with Axxess (IS) Uncapped it's like running in the dark, you know you will hit a wall sometime, you just don't know when that will be. And when you hit it, your in the hospital, and you're pretty much out for the rest of the month. Until next month when you can try running again, this time a bit slower, hoping you will not hit that wall again.

i can understand being throttled. if i use too much and I'm not willing to pay thousands, by all means, bump me down to 384. but the problem is, I'm not down to 384, I'm below dial up. on an 4mb account. its 00:30 on a Sunday night/Monday morning and i have downloads running at 4kbps on a DAMN 4MB!! I can watch a youtube video at full speed but any download at all is less than 5kbps. not just torrents. a direct download from numerous sight and different mirrors.

i heard IS is messed up but damn!

oh well, off to a different ISP. I'm over this.
 
Axxess is sh.t. I am done with them - two months of frustration, download 10Gb per week and you get throuttled to death. Can't wait for tomorrow when I move accounts :mad:
 
Is there any other decent cheap uncapped package that allows 2 concurrent connections?
 
I'm also looking for an account with 2 concurrent connections. Considering a 1mb justUncapped account for 2x 384kbps lines. What you guys think?
 
I know this is a old thread but I have to add that they have added much more grace to these uncapped accounts after hours. You will mostlikely get full speed after hours from 17:00 until 8am in the morning.

I think that is quite amazing considering its a cheap account.

Couldn't agree more. Account can fly after hours. Been on it for 3 months so far.
1st Month: 463GB
2nd Month: 391GB
3rd Month(as of the 18th): 331GB

Do not get this account if you expect day time speeds. Get a capped account for your day to day and after hours and weekends use this to rape.
 
What an old thread! Is nobody using them any more or are they that good?

Personally have been having speed problems ever since my line dropped and I battled for hours to get it back up. Upload and download speeds are the same at around 350kbps, day or night on a 1Mbps account. Must say, I had a much better experience over at MWEB last time. I got the Axxess accounts because of the full line speed available after hours, with their 10Mbps line going for R359. That sounds very attractive, but not feeling the love at the moment.

I read there are problems with IS, which supposedly will be resolved around the 17th. Any more info than that? Are there any Axxess reps around here? Axxessguy?

No problems with IS. Looks like its problems with Telkom giving out IP's on the MTN network. But if you on uncapped then you are still on the IS network. Axxess are only moving the uncapped accounts over to MTN on the 17th.

It does, thanks. I am probably being throttled. Wonder how the MTN network will handle that kind of thing.
 
Any Axxess uncapped guys on MTN or still on IS according to their rollout schedule?
