I placed orders for both Afrihost and Axxess mobile data bundles at around about the same time for family members.

They both opted to pay via debit order. Neither order has been processed yet, apparently due to a debit order clearance period.

I contacted Afrihost, who told me that the debit order will take up to 5 days to clear, and that the sim should be received within 2 weeks.

I contacted Axxess, and they told me that the debit order should only take 3 days to clear, and that the sim will be sent via next-day courier, so it'll be received by Friday if all goes well.

Do Axxess and Afrihost have different policies with regard to Mobile data orders, or am I missing something?

Evening! :)

Axxess and Afrihost use different Billing systems, so there may be difference in clearance periods, for the most part we provide conservative estimates for payments to clear. So it is entirely possible that the payment clears faster than the 5 working days that we estimate.

Similarly with the courier services, we've had sim cards delivered within 48 hours to Clients in the Cape, but if the delivery is occurring in an outlying area, it can take up to 2 weeks depending on the courier schedule.

If you want me to follow-up on this, just drop me a PM with your account details.

Afrihost an Axxess are effectively the same company. Why the competitive behavior?

i.e Afrihost Plus+ Double Data, Axxess 3 Month Mobile Data Rollover etc.

Much like how MTN keeps Afrihost as a separate Business Entity, so Axxess is completely separate to Afrihost, and has it's own business structures and Directors.

I think the reasoning is the Afrihost and Axxess have two different client bases, so the competition doesn't really do any harm. :)

Hi Totempole

AfriGenie hit the nail on the head, AfriHost and Axxess still operates as two different entities, each with their own structures and client base etc.

Well, Axxess sim card received today as promised, so very impressed with them. :)

Afrihost hasn't even begun to process the order placed with them at the same time. :(
Waiting to see if they at least manage to keep to their 2 week claim.

Which payment method did you opt for when you signed-up with us?

Debit Order for both Axxess and Afrihost. Both are totally new accounts.

That probably explains it, with a brand new account our system will wait until the actual debit order has gone off, and we've receiving verification of the payment being completed and the money actually being transferred into our account.

Our system is a bit more paranoid as we've had massive issues with debit orders being reversed once the order has dispatched to the courier.

Well, I see that it now has a cell number assigned to it, so something is definitely happening now.
