Axxess. Worst ISP I have ever used.

Sigh. People need to rtfm. All the IS based uncapped accounts suck. Mweb is decent, but even that varies.

Currently there is NO uncapped service that will give you the same performance as a capped product. If you play games (like I do) don't waste your time with uncapped. Or get a capped account for gaming and an uncapped account for leeching.

I have a 4mb ADSL line at the office, and use a Mikrotik setup to make various ADSL connections via bridge mode

I got an Axxess 4m uncapped package for "Base Load" (e-mails, junior staff web access etc) and a WebAfrica capped account for "prime time" Internet (VoIP, The Boss etc).

During office hours the performance of the Axxess 4mb package is typical worse than 200kb/s. After midnight, it improves to close to 4mb/s and drops to day speeds again around 7 in the morning.

Just to test, I got an M-Web 384 account as well. No problem getting 300kb/s anytime of the day!

It performs better than the Axxess 4mb/s most of the time, in spite of being a slowspeed rated package!

Axxess sucks!

End of the month, my Axxess account will lapse, and MWeb will get my 4Meg business!

A 384 account getting 300kb/s?!? This I have to see.

Zolly, conversely some people need to read posts properly...

I specifically said that the problems regarding latency started last week Friday. Before then I was getting sub 300ms pings. My downloads ran upwards of 200k/s (and much higher) until about two weeks ago, but since then that has gone down the tubes as well.

I didn't ask for the same performance as a capped account, I'm not a complete idiot. During the last month or two my Axxess account has gone down the drain and I'm asking for an alternative. That's it.

It has to be said their hosting sucks too. Just had nasty experience with that too, so will be moving off elsewhere. I converted my lite from 10GB to 1GB but going to cancel that too.

It also helps to be less vague, what 4mbit account do you have? Express+ or just the 539+- offerings

Sorry TheYak, my comment wasn't specifically aimed at you. I've just been reading about people complaining about these accounts since ISP's started selling them.

From what I've read here, only the Mweb has playable latency for international games, and that's after they remove the shaping, which seems to happen at any time between 7 and 11 pm.
