MWEB Uncapped problems

The funny thing is this. You pay so little now for uncapped internet but you have to buy lots of Hard drives to download all your GB's of stuff that you download. So do you really save money?

@ the OP.

There is already a MWEB user feedback thread. Why start another one!?!

I signed up for the 512 uncapped on friday. Got the details, logged in and started downloading 24/7 to "test" The whole weekend great! no problems! Tuesday : upgrade to 4MB cause its looking great...get home...start downloading, so far so good. being the paranoid guy that i am i wake up at 1:00 to check downloads :)
DEAD, start them again....3:00 DEAD start them again....6:00 DEAD...I did not have a good night :(

So this weekend i did about 4GB a day on my 512 line which is about 150GB a month. not too bad, not too abusive. BUT on the 4 MB line i could only manage 2GB p/d WTF???

Now i understand the TC etc but when are we supposed to download then? During office hours it's shaped like hell, torrents maxing out at 10KB and news maxing out at 15KB(astraweb).
Now i can get some apps that will simulate a person on the pc to keep the connection alive but i see that it's also in the TC lol (screw it how will they know?)

Anyway...not worth it if you ask me...will use my free month and jump ship.

Anyone else have the same problems?
Also how are the rapid share accounts performing on mweb?

honestly dude, what are you smoking? ALL ISPs on the PLANET throttle p2p during the day, thats because the other 99191919 users who would like to check their email dont give a #%^! about your latest episode of Lost, and they are the majority :)

Then, look around the forum, people complain about axxess, IS, Afrihost etc and Mweb. All the ISPs are working on dealing with the killer load and new clients, and juggling the bandwidth in a way so that everyone (yes you're not the only person on the internet) gets a good experience.

If its perfection you want, build a warp drive, point it towards the Delta Quadrant (aim past Saturn's left moon and go straight) and I'm sure the Borg will pick you up in no time....

That statement is FALSE, not all ISP's shape their traffic during the day. Mine does not although I pay a bit more than the shaped offerings.

That's like saying it's an uncapped account but we have fair use policies :D

There are many ISP's out there that offer unshaped services, I'm with one of them.

They all offer unshaped, also known as "business" accounts. Two points however, one they cost more, and ergo (2) they mean less people take them, and so the balance of bandwidth usage is maintained and the matrix is once again all well. Now, in a country where bandwidth prices are much much lower than ours, its pobably no longer feasable separating shaped and unshaped and they just offer unshaped. Be that as it may, usability and abuse clauses will always exist.

In the US (and other countries) you can pay a little more and get totally uncapped / unshaped connections. Way less than what Business solutions cost in SA.

These 250GB COMCAST limits are on their cheapest accounts.

Yes, but they dont have the evil ship with its big T logo floating around now do they? ;)

Uncapped 384k Mweb ADSL - WAS getting 40kB/s for last week on uTorrent, mix of local & Intl ...

NOW only getting about 12kB/s .... for 3 days straight!

Also, torrents are completely limited during the day. 1k/s if that!

F@#$ annoyed!

please help here!

on 4mb uncapped with mweb and for the last 3 days I am only getting 60kbs on altbinz, even during the night! what the hell?

how does your speed rate on other downloads? I mean it could be congestion at the other side, not necessarily Mweb.

i'm just surprised (even disappointed) they haven't fired off emails threatening blacklisting yet. they got a reputation to uphold here
