B618 vs B535 - Worth it with upgrade?

I currently have the B618-65d (I think). The new routers they are selling with their contracts are the B535-932 models.
Is it worth it to upgrade to the B535? The difference in cost is R699 sim only and R769 including the router for the 120gb + 120gb package.

Any input would be appreciated.

Maybe new a modern but not better. The B618 is a cat11 device while the new B535 is a cat7 device.

I haven't looked at the detailed specs yet just saw these obvious differences. Unless you have issues with your B618 I would keep it.

I suspected as much, but good to get a more informed opinion. I'll save the R70 a month and "upgrade" to a sim-only contract.

Why do you need to upgrade it. Just keep it as is on month to month

The B535 is not approved for use on the MTN Fixed LTE network if at some point you need to change providers and want to use your current router.

The B618 will work on the MTN network but the B818 which is an upgrade of the B618 is also apparently not approved and cannot be used on that network.

Telkom does not have any restrictions on the router models that can be used on their network.

I'm on the 60+60 at the moment for R599ish. I always end up buying a second 60+60 bundle towards the mid/end of the month, so I have to increase that, unfortunately.

Okay but I'm sure you can get it on a month to month package and not a new 24 month contract.

100% possible if you do this when your contract ends.

However if you want to upgrade your current package to a bigger data bundle, they'll only allow you to do it on contract.
Otherwise cancellation fees kick in.
