B8 A4 1.8T or 2.0T Multitronic.

Just did an 8 hour Road trip. 8.1l/100km using cruise control where possible. B8 A4 2.0T multitronic

I get exactly the same consumption in my A6 3.2 FSi Quattro. Clock just over 1,000kms on a tank on the open road. Flipping impressive.

I'll defer to your input. I honestly haven't owned one myself, so I'm speaking from indirect knowledge. Might have been due to those being older CVT's then, if the new ones are truly improved then I apologize for my misconception

CVT's are normally more economical than their alternative automatic counterparts often matching or sometimes even beating the manual versions of the same car.

Having lived with early generation CVT boxes and now driving the latest generation on the new Forester - the new boxes are sublime. The old ones just screamed at you and did very little - the new ones have pre-programmed "change" points and it now sounds as if the car is changing gear, whilst remaining totally smooth. Also a radical improvement in fuel consumption - the new CVT is giving a 12% improvement in economy over the previous automatic that used the same engine.

Hi everyone!! So I've been looking up some Audi A4's (pre-owned). I found a 2009 Audi A4 2.0T Multitronic Ambition with 80 000kms. The car is in excellent condition and has a full service history. Can anyone tell me if this is a good car for R200 000? I want to get at least another 6 years with approx. 10 000 kms per year.

Any help, advice or comments would be appreciated! Thanks

AFAIK Audi discontinued the Multitronic in 2014. For good reason. I'd rather look at S-Tronic or Manual

Don't know... Never been that excited by the BMW's. Merc or Audi for me.

Merc 1st, BMW 2nd - although depending on what you want those two can change spots - we all know who makes the sweetest straight sixes. Third I will place Opel out of habit. Few VAG products will change this, unless we're talking C4 S4.

Always take C4 S4 when you can.

I was also advised against getting a multitronic but did it anyway, luckily I didn't have any issues (with the gear box at least)....Although towards the end occasionally when reversing and then putting it into D the car would jerk, apparently not a good sign.

I am done with Audi, drive a BM now and honestly couldn't be happier in almost every department.
