Seems the current regime has become what they were fighting against.
Doubt much will come of it.

Cops 'bugged' journalist's phone

Johannesburg - The Sunday Independent newspaper this week will request the Inspector General of Intelligence to investigate claims that police officers from the Crime Intelligence unit harassed one if its journalists, it said on Sunday.

The officers allegedly bugged Gcwalisile Khanyile's phone and tried to coerce another journalist - who was not named - from the Star newspaper into revealing "internal confidential" information.

This came after the newspaper did an expose in October which detailed allegations of nepotism, corruption, fraud and mismanagement at the division.

Police had obtained a court order from the High Court in Johannesburg halting further revelations. However, the Sunday Independent was appealing the judgment, it said.

The newspaper's lawyer said: "Shortly after the high court granted the interdict, Khanyile became aware that she had been placed under surveillance by the SAPS Crime Intelligence. She discovered that agents had been assigned to follow her and that her cellphone had been tapped."

The Sunday Independent's editor Makhudu Sefara said the newspaper had information showing that Khanyile "was, and probably still is, being followed".

"We have information showing that operatives have been instructed to befriend our reporters with a view to infiltrating our - and other -newsrooms across the country," he said.

Police spokesperson Colonel Tummi Shai said the police would not comment on the matter.

Alot more than silence and burying your head in the sand

Not burying my head in the sand. I have read many great responses on many forums by many intelligent people. Yet they are powerless to affect change. Even votes don't really count all that much as was proven by the last elections. So what would you have us do Che?

If you dont like the subject or content of a thread maybe you should consider skipping over it, instead of trolling
Doesn't TNA have a forum?

Che was a jest and I am not trolling. I stated what I feel which I am allowed to do. Clearly you woke up from the wrong side of the bed this morning otherwise you would have taken the jest and made suggestions.

Dude, if you make a post that dares to say anything that someone else doesn't like, then you'll be called a troll. Actually, you'll be lucky if thats all you are called. This is how MyBB works.

Anyway, I'm with you. Just talking about the problems is not going to change anything.

Cool - understood ;)

I have seen some brilliant ideas on forums over the years.... if only one could figure out a way to get those solutions implemented.

I agree. People complain about all the problems that we have, but that's about as far as people are willing to go. Even disgruntled ANC supporters who are unhappy with ANC service delivery, when it comes down to actually doing something, vote ANC again.

Too true!

but that's about as far as people are willing to go

Talking is the 1st steps. Books have changed the world. One person has an opinion. Another learns of that opinion and modifies their own. This subconscious worldview then rules the person's actions.

Talking about things is the most important part of being human. The butterfly effect in it's most perfect expression.

Every person one has ever communicated with, visually, aurally and verbally, has shaped one's worldview.

Let's keep talking and shaping the world and make it a place we all can love! ;)

Just getting ones disapproval out verbally is a good feeling - even if it doesn't make any difference. Rather that as appose to keeping it in.
