Backing up and iPad on iTunes

so my daughter has an ipad that will be going in for repairs

the account that is logged into the account for the majority of the time is hers. however i have backed up the ipad under my itunes account.

when they swap out the device and we get another one, will merely clicking restore the backup be all that is needed?

If it's backed up as her iPad, then yes, you will simply restore it again as hers. At the point of restore, you are prompted to either set it up as a new iPad, restore from iCloud, or restore from iTunes. You select the latter, and that should present as one of the options, that backup you made. Will be listed under whatever name that iPad has.

A possible complication to the above could where the device has multiple AppleID's associated with it. If it was yours, and became hers, then not sure whether the backup would pull down everything, or only that which is associated with that particular AppleID and iCloud - but then you would need to be a bit more specific.

A further tip - under the settings/summary page of that iPad, when connected in iTunes, there is a checkbox that allows you to encrypt the backup. Selecting that option - then adding a password for the encryption - will copy down most of the related login/password details for the apps on that device (Facebook etc.). When you restore that backup, you will need to put in that same password again, and all that information will be synced across automatically (so you don't have to put it all in again manually). This can save a bit of time and effort.
