Anyone else having issues backup up WhatsApp with apple devices?

Hi all

A client of mine is having issues backing up WhatsApp messages on his phone to iCloud.

His backup is fairly large it's at least 99gb. Last successful backup was in October, and he's worried that should something happen to his phone (I don't blame him) he'll be without important messages, and chats.

icloud space is more than sufficient, I upgraded him to 2tb.

What happens is when the backup is initiated it sits on preparing for at one stage was over, or near 18 hours, and just does not progress any further.

At on stage it was terminated and restarted, as client needed to use his phone, and it's not ideal for his phone to be out of action hours at a time waiting for a backup to commence.

Awaiting further feedback.

First thing I turn off, so can’t say I would notice if it was problematic.

99GB of WhatsApp sounds insane though, surely he can just delete some of that and making it smaller will likely resolve the issue.

Delete all the dumb videos he's received multiple times via WhatsApp groups.

And they make that surprisingly easy now grouping all the “forwarded many times” videos together for easy deletion.

99GB WA backup is beyond stupid! WTF.

Mine is like under 2.5GB & I feel that is a lot/alot.
