Can anyone recommend a good backup software?

EASEUS Todo Backup looks really nice because it has the ability for one to browse a backup in Windows Explorer, which I want to be able to do. The only problem is that the backup's are read only so I won't be able to delete files from the backup after the backup has completed, which I want to be able to do. < I hope that makes sense?

Does anyone know of another program that allows those two features?

Thanks in advance...

Todobackup works very well.

Acronis is very cumbersome and Expensive.

I use both on a daily basis and Todobackup comes out tops in terms of usability and reliability, also much more user friendly.
Acronis brings up too many errors, I want it to work not tell me this or that is wrong and then freeze up the system.

Todobackup doesn't allow one to edit the backup image afterwards... which I want to do...

Is this for business or personal use?

YIP - Keeps folder structure info and backs up to a single or split files.
Winzip can also keep folder structure info if asked to to do.

I use Safe Data Backup. I have it set up to run backups of various folders, wirelessly to my NAS, at different times during the week. It creates browsable folders (or zip files, if you like) and can be set to keep copies of deleted / modified files. You can also set it up to ignore certain file types, which I do because my wife has a habit of leaving copies of huge video files on her Desktop. It works vert well for my needs.

I use Acronis Backup & Recovery (now version 11). Full volume image. Images can be mounted read-only or read-write. If a file is needed from the backup, simply double-click the image, navigate to the file, Ctrl-C then Ctrl-V to destination. EZ-PZ. Backups can be done in a few clicks.

If one mounts an image how is it mounted? Does it appear as another drive in My Computer?
Can one delete a file from a backup image or is it read-only?

You can browse the image directly by simply clicking it as you would a normal folder/file, and then read/write as normal.
To mount, simply right-click the TIB file and mount - drive letters are allocated to all partition images in the TIB. You can set whether you want to mount in read-only or w/r mode. Modifying the image creates an incremental file so your original is never changed, which is good change management practice.

Oh ok, so by the sounds of things one can't really edit the backup image. I was hoping to backup my whole drive and then delete the program files and windows folder in the backup image to save space....

Syncback Pro for personal use.

No backup image or archive unless you specify. It keeps folder structure the same as it was and you can have incremental backups.

Also good at copying things like PST's when open, which is nice. That or GFI Home Backup.

+1 to gdiza. Cobian is great. I've started using Windows backup on several PCs and servers and am very impressed.
