Taxi ignoring pointsmen. And the cops wanted to write ME a R2k fine yesterday because my numberplates (which look like every other numberplate out there) don't have an SABS mark on them. wtf priorities.
 
This mornings experience with CY175496 Polo Playa, a queue jumper of note!
The Capetonians who drive through Goodwood will know that the N1 on-ramp at Vasco Boulevard is a bit of a mess.
My theory is that most of them are caused by queue jumpers, as there are so many who feel entitled to cut in at the front of the queue, while slowing down the people who are waiting in the correct lane.

So this morning, Ms Polo Playa drove right to the end of the straight only lane, and took a right.
She had to take a wide turn to get in and I drove as per normal not stopping to allow her a gap.
This upset her, so eventually when the lane merged onto the N1, being behind me she go the gap first and clearly tried to prevent me from merging.

Much further along in my commute, I was in the far left lane of the N1 after sable road & I spotted Ms Polo Playa again, speeding past me.
For those who do not know, these lanes are fairly clear as they merge onto the M5 & Koeberg road, while the two right hand lanes go to the CBD and are bumper to bumper.
Immediately when I saw that Polo, I suspected she was going to cut in again.
Due to the speed she was driving, I assume she spotted a gap & needed to slam on her brakes to get in, I just saw the car behind her brake sudden and hard.

On the first bit, if there is a long queue and someone stops next to you with their indicator on to cut in, do you make sure they don't get in or do you just let them be and carry on? I'm not talking where people legitimately need a gap to get in, I'm talking about someone who knowingly jumped the queue.

Indeed, fsckers do this at the Atterbury offramp on the N1 South every. single. morning, essentially reducing a 4-lane highway down to 2 lanes. Now I don't take that specific offramp, but would still block any douches trying their luck. I am still waiting for someone to get rammed by a truck when they suddenly decide to push in. But I see that even the trucks know this now, and move over before they get stuck behind some ass with a sense of entitlement.

just a little context. in cape town for some reason they like to have a kilometers of yellow lines on both side of the road. now I usually don't mind if im on a highway. but when they when its not a freewayit irritates me when they have a kilometer of yellow line then 10 meters for the right/left turning lane. now I can understand the logistics because our stellar drivers would use that lane to pass other cars and then cut back in.

now what happens in the morning is that the straight going traffic builds up and you get stuck at the back of this queue but you not going straight, you want to turn. so obviously you sitting diligently and watching all these fsucking cars go by. arriving after you but they all passing you now. pi$$es me off no end. so this morning I think fsuck this im taking it. I check the mirror. some small bakkie is passing me, oh wait, its the metro police. not chasing the okes using the yellow lane but using the same yellow lane to get into the right turn lane.

so is it now cool for me now to use the yellow lane to get to the robot or should I just stew and get frustrated by all these damn cars passing me?

It is perfectly acceptable to do so, as long as there is no entrance/exit on that side of the road, e.g., an office park or such.

I usually wait until I'm within 25m of the intersection.

there is nothing. there is just over a kilometer of yellow lane before the right turn. if you familiar with cape town, im talking about the Stellenbosch arterial. but if the traffic cops catch you in the lane they want to fine you but I cant see how you are interfering with traffic.

I'm familiar with this road, I live in CL.

jah boet, no one employs traffic cops for their reasoning abilities. :D
 
We have a traffic circle close to home and I can see a big collision sooner rather than later. Cars go into the inner circler (it's a two lane circle), and then turn left at the first exit, while some cars, correctly so, continue with the circle. I've seen it happening many times that one of the two has to break hard. Seriously, if you're taking the next exit, go to the outer circle?

Sorry for the rather complicated explanation lol.
