Bad Driving thread

This is something that I see so many people doing wrong, it's caused me to be so paranoid when turning that I'm constantly keeping an eye on the other cars when turning. It's also stupidly simple to just do properly.

I travel to work on a route that goes from a double- to four-lane road when turning left. 99% of the time, cars in the left lane go into either of the two left-most lanes and cars in the right-lane go into either of the two right-most lanes. However, have had a few near misses with cars not doing this, primarily taxis and expensive sedans.

I keep a lookout anyway, which is why they have been near-misses and not in accidents, but yeah, only a matter of time.

That at least is something that is manageable...

What I see more often is a road with 2 turning lanes (both left for instance), and the person in the left most turning lane just blithely decides they will go straight, and screw the guy next to them who is turning. The number of near misses I've seen (and had myself) from idiots doing that just beggars belief.

I spot people doing this, and lurk in their blind spots. The shocked swerving from when I hoot at them warms the cockles of my cold little heart.

Biggest problem on our roads are the 70% of people who see themselves as self appointed traffic officers and who try and enforce the law on the roads.

Stop worrying about other people and focus on the safety of your family and yourself instead. Believe me, it might not seem like it but it will make the world a better place.

Leave the 'idiots' to themselves, the world have a way of dealing with them and they will meet their fate eventually.

I tend to agree with you actually.

A few years ago - when I started driving, I had this: "If I must follow the road rules, so must you!" attitude. Always made it clear to these idiots that what they were doing was wrong and always tried to "Teach them a lesson"

Where did that get me?

High blood pressure and always stressed.

Now I couldn't care less what idiots do on the roads. The only time I will intervene is if the idiot causes me to take action to avoid an accident - then I make my opinion of how much of an idiot they they are being.

People driving down the emergency lanes and queue jumping - meh, whatever.

Recenlty pedestrians have pissed me off more than bad drivers, in fact I'm starting to hate the fukcers. They need to be educated on the rules of the road. It seems like pedestrians don't care for their safety. It amazes me to see parents put their childrens lives in danger by standing between lanes on busy Multi-lane roads. They also nonchalantly stroll across the street and give you a "wtf you gonna do look" as your car approaches them.

Half of our annual road death toll are pedestrians... sort the ***** out and drop the death toll by half.....

So cretins not actually stopping, mostly at intersections with, you know, STOP signs, has already been covered (and they are eminently deserving of a good flogging); these two more things the numnuts out there do that wig me out, when I land up on the receiving end of their dumbassery.

First: not having the FAINTEST cooking clue of where the bloody stop line is and belatedly stopping only because someone is coming, and then stopping WAY out over the stop line, forcing you to navigate all the way around their idiot selves. This intersection is a regular favourite of mine. Oh, and should you dare to express displeasure at THEIR stuff up, you get shouted at for, somehow, being in the wrong.

The other one, that really wigs me out on a bike (because of the 'line' or apex I follow going the other way) is the many, many fvcktards out there who are patently unable to navigate a right-hand (so, driver's side) bend and drive OVER THE SOLID LINE! Sure, they get it right to the left because lack of road but they insist on drifting (often a good 50+ cm worth) over that line. And when they're doing that, blissfully unaware (apparently the default driving state out there) of that cross-over, along you come, into that same bend. Pic for visual.

three things that have become more common that really irritate me and are extremely dangerous.

1) People who go straight from a turning left only lane because they see two lanes infront they think its go straight or turn left when the right lane is go straight or turn left. In other words ignore the road markings.

2) People who drive SLOWLY on a freeway. Its dangerous if you want to drive slowly dont use the freeway take the back route.

3) Idiots driving 100kph in the right lane of a freeway and refuse to move when flashed. It doesnt matter if the speed limit is 120 the law is simple if you are flashed on the right lane you must move. Really irritates me more when its some retard holiday guy with his family and a trailer in the right lane and sits there like a stubborn ahole

Got you on video, just need your name to add to the credits for the show for posting on YouTwitFace.

BG34HJ GP (could be wrong on the registration, was a quick blur), white SUV, think it's a Land Rover. On Kelvin Drive at 8am this morning outside Morningglen Mall, cuts across oncoming traffic, narrowingly missing a vehicle turning correctly into traffic and shoots across the traffic light causing several vehicles to brake hard on the oncoming lane, turns into the doctors offices.

This vehicle could not have had an emergency (he did turn into that medical center) as it was behind a marked paramedic vehicle for at least 5 minutes, and did not indicate that he had an emergency.
Coincidently, the medic was well behaved.

WJG464GP - think it was a Harley of some kind. Coming from Bellville to Tableview
Passed cars on the left shoulder of the road. And some more cars on the right shoulder. Repeat a few times, pushing into the traffic again as required.

Dont do this!! Dangerous for you and everyone else around you

I can one up that. Two lanes, at an intersection. Left hand lane can turn left or right, right hand lane can only turn right. I'm sitting in the left hand lane indicating my intention to turn right. Had some ****tard in a dark green corolla (mid-90's model) on my right. He doesn't have his left indicator on, so I assume he is turning right. Light goes green I start moving forward - next thing I'm slamming on my brakes because the guy decided to turn left.

But for me, the worst is the ****ing lack of use of the indicators, or the snap-lane-change-then-indicate-when-we're-in-the-lane. South African drivers are the absolute worst drivers I have encountered. No one has patience any more.
