Trust me it's worse in the other provinces.... The level of driving is deteriorating badly of late...

Had some muppet in his BMW 645i nearly take me out going up fields hill this weekend... I was doing 100 in the middle line and this muppet must have been doing 140 in the fast lane and couldn't control his car so crossed damn far into my lane and missed my bakkie by about 5cm... He should be damn thankful my bakkie tops out at about 120 otherwise I would have chased him down and given him the PK he so rightly deserved

I am using my GoPro as a dash cam, as I am agraid I might just loose it one morning an use my truck as a blunt instrument!!!
No matter how many times you send complaints to the traffic department, nothing ever happens.
No pigs to be seen anywhere.

First, we have this guy jumping a red light...

Then we have a Taxi in the opposite lane, CF 139 335.

Then this cluster**** this morning. Guy at the front stops for the light. 2nd guy in que says no, he is not stopping.
Then a white Jetta comes screaming by and jumps the light too. So a Mazda bakkie say no, **** that too.
Next 2 taxi's does their normal stint.

That sort of thing usually also upset me a lot.

Now I'm learning myself to calm down when some ijit douchebag does some stunt like that in traffic. After all, he/she'll get used to do it, and one day will be doing it once too many, and cause an accident. Then said douchebag ijit will be the driver responsible for an accident.
 
Having driven in all major cities, I have come to the following conclusion:

Durban drivers are bad, like really bad. However, they are not as bad as Joburg drivers, who seem to have the same level of skill as Durban drivers but are not actively trying to kill you.

Cape town drivers are far too chilled. It is a 60 road, not a 30 road, thanks.

Bugger the dash cam, a dash-mounted bazooka with active tracking will do the job much better :D
 
I had a unpleasant incident this morning on my way to work. Stupid kid in his VW Golf ran over a four-way stop. Luckily I fitted a nice loud horn to my motorcycle, that didn't deter him btw.

To add more to my fury, he had the audacity to ask me why I was making such a noise. I've got the whole incident on helmet cam, still deciding if I should make live miserable for him or not.

My other thread reminded me...
Coming home yesterday there is a set of lights with two lanes - one for straight only, one for turning only. But just past that there are again two lanes. So this nutter in his Opel (not a 1991 COTY) screams through the turn only lane at 80km/h+ and carries on straight, narrowly avoiding cars legitimately changing lanes after the lights (by going into the oncoming lane), and weaves in and out the lanes a few more times to "get ahead" in the traffic. When I caught up to him and gestured "what the hell are you doing?" he couldnt be calmer and gestured I must watch the road ahead... Days like this I wish I had a helmet cam, I'd post it everywhere I could :mad:
 
Since this is my thread I figured I'd just put this here...

To the retard in the white polo who thought it would be a good idea to drive like a complete retard and brake test me because you were driving like a retard after I hooted at you... Be glad I don't have your license plate, because the accident you caused due to you idiocy means you deserve a very large PK and you need to pay the excess on my car after you forced me to spin and hit the barrier and then scamper off into the distance like a coward.

This oke was clearly a wannabe gti driver... The only reason I didn't hit the back of him is that I am at least vaguely competent behind the wheel

It's worth it IMHO but do get one with 1080p. I have the geeko from Esquire and I don't think you can easily read the number plates...what I do do however is whenever I see a potential a hole driver I just read the number plate out loud while I'm driving as it records audio very well. Can always write it down later on playback.
