The best response from the JMPD (or whoever) on the radio " Taxi drivers need to be more responsible. When the cops are there, everything is fine (yeah, right), but when they leave, taxis drive bad again"

Okay, so, enforcement isn't just being present, but active enforcement. If the taxi driver drives badly, fine him. If the car isn't roadworthy, impound it. But it will not happen as taxi associations hold too much power. This is due to a lack of good alternative public transport.

Even better still; impound the vehicle for a period, and cancel their licences so that they have to reapply from scratch to get their learners license, do their driving tests again before they can get licenses - along with the waiting periods involved. Repeat offenders should get lengthier suspensions and have to pass more stringent tests.

I strongly agree. Make it a big schlepp for them, then maybe they'll think twice before violating traffic rules again.

I am honestly surprised it isn't already. My favourite is when they try to get BACK into the traffic from the yellow lane and can't, then they get seriously mad. Usually makes my day no matter HOW bad the traffic is. :D

Also amazed by the cars crossing the white line WITH their indicator on! Honestly, what is the point, you've broken the law already? And then you get fsckers changing lanes where they ARE allowed to, but don't indicators. South Africans are really an odd bunch of drivers.

I'm having to more regularly actually stop in front/next to people to get them to do the most basic things. The other morning on my way to work I tried to get someone to turn his headlights on (it was an hour before sunrise). All my wild gesticulating did nothing. Eventually I started shouting at him to put his lights on after parking in front of him so he couldn't move. When he finally did only the one light was working though, but at least people could see him coming. I always give a thumbs up afterwards hoping that they realise I'm necessarily angry but trying to help out (well, not help them per say, but the other people on the road they are likely to have an accident with)

Especially taxi drivers with a death wish.


Can remember more than 30 years ago I was on my motorcycle in evening traffic. Guy next to me did not had his lights on, so I indicated to him that his lights was out. He started to yell and cuss at me, before discovering his lights were not on. Sheepishly switched it on and apologized.

Hence why I dont do such things anymore. Too dangerous.

Better still .. an ex mp's old s class with bullet proof armour plating.... or a mine truck .... carmageddon style .... now that would be fun ....
 
Yeah, because of the weight that old S-class will not be the one taking most of the impact. I like the way you are thinking.

You actually need a 109 series Land Rover. Massive steel ladder chassis will withstand almost anything.

I've been wanting to do this for a long time!

Just drive around and don't do anything to avoid anyone doing anything stupid :D
