Bad Driving thread

I experienced a new one today - a bicyclist lane splitting (sort of alright I suppose, they need to change lanes at same point if turning)... but going in the opposite direction of the traffic she was splitting :wtf:

Was exiting a garage inside a shopping centre and some young dooes laaitjie driving a ****ty Golf raced into the road leading from the highway intersection into the mall entrance road. Almost smashed into him. He gave me the finger, I blocked him, exited vehicle and said 'Do that again you porridge ou ****, I dare u".

:D

Then what?

Would've blocked the Merc, have done the same sort of thing successfully before, they shyte themselves though. And have been fortunate enough not to have an accident as a result.

The merge with with BMW seemed legit, unless he was on a Yield, or am I wrong?

Funniest experience for me recently, was yesterday when I was in one of the two turning lanes to take an onramp. City Courier's truck come flying past, almost take off my bumper changing without indicating into the other turning lane, so I laugh and say "See you on the highway!", and guess who I passed on the highway not a km later, lol. Guess he doesn't know GP rush hour, what an ass.

honestly though drivers who let people in are half the problem, if people didn't do this it wouldnt be such a problem. Traffic is really slow there is no need for 10 car lengths between that car and the car in front.

This.

I developed a lazy driving habit. Plus it saves wear and tear on the brakes by not having to brake every so often.

I don't like to sit on the edge of somebody's a$$ and have to stomp on my brakes often.

Its fine to an extent, but that big of a gap is a little extreme. 1 car length should be fine.

I dont mind letting you in if you're trying to merge in a legit way, but if you're crossing an island or solid line or a taxi, then too bad.

Yeah, have also started doing this. Ofc, then 3 taxis, a Fortuner and a Putco bus decide they can fit into your following distance, but yeah, the joys of driving in Gauteng.

Same here, for legit merges I am happy to give a gap. Otherwise, they can take a hike.

I get what you say but that is a bit extreme, you are basically asking for people to pull in front of you, then b!tching about it xD

I don't mind letting you in either, but again if it is a stretch of road you know backs up everyday why do you wait till 50m from the ramp/split etc to try get in? why must i sit in the 2km line to let you in regardless if there isnt a solid line. I see it everyday the same people at giloolys doing this.

I had the wonderful experience of a driver trying to force a gap between me and the car in front of me in gridlock traffic The approach. Use indicator and just start moving into my lane. And he wasn't in front of me either. Me in a small hatch. Other driver with a SUV. SUV realized that he is going to get more damage to his new car than my 8 year old hatch.

.

BMW driver... why am I not surprised...

Did you even watch the video? There were Toyotas, VW, Merc, Hyundai, Nissan and a couple of others driving like pricks. The BMW merged in a perfectly normal manner. Have you got a little chip on your shoulder? Perhaps a BMW driver shagged your girlfriend last night?

Weren't you aware that when merging your indicator means that you can just go - everyone else on the road needs to move out of the way.

Drives me nuts this..

Almost nobody seems to know the rule that when you indicate it gives you the right to just move and ppl must make space...

Own a BMW by any chance?

I am of the general consensus here; allowing other drivers to simply push in and leaving more than a car's length gap is half the problem. I don't allow anyone to cut in front of me if they're trying or have crossed a solid white line / island paintings, etc.
