Bad Driving thread

Its not exactly wrong but shoo its annoying - do people not hoot at you or cut in front of the gap you left?

Think about the cars in the back not sure about this intersection but looking at the turn lanes it might apply - imagine a few cars back traffic is piled up and one guy needs to turn right, and all he needs is just under 1/2 a car gap, to get to his turning lane but can't because the car in front is in that gap, he can't go forward because car in from and all that is because you sitting there chilling with 3 cars distance between you and the car in front?

Why is it annoying? Why would someone hoot? Why would someone cut in front of me?

I hear what you are saying about cars behind looking for half a gap, I normally would move a bit so that someone looking to get in to a turning lane can get in but it doesn't apply in this situation at all.

Ignoring cars gapping in, due to the big gap you are leaving that you could have filled, when the light turns green around two cars will not get through because of your actions. How do you not see this? You're basically sitting there blocking the way.

Why is it annoying?
Because there is a huge gap between you and the car in front (like 3 cars worth). it means when the robot turns you have to cover that 3 cars gap and so do all the cars behind you - that means 3 cars less make it through the robot before it goes orange and red - it's a domino effect , - you not affected but 3 other drivers are.

Why would someone hoot?
Because there is a huge gap, they will hoot for you to move to fill it.
seriously has no one ever hooted at you?
Why would someone cut in front of me?
Because there is a huge gap, so they will take - I am honestly surprised that white beemer on the left didn't jump in front of you - seemed like he was planning to.

Do you always leave a gap like that or was it just this time when you shared the video?

Why do cars creep forward at a robot? Mostly it is because they either ride the clutch or drive automatics. Unfortunately, leaving such a large gap in front of you is just going to encourage chancers.

This is getting funny now  The gap that I left to the car in front of me is perfectly acceptable in my opinion, the issue that some of you have is that I didn't creep forward when the car in front of me crept forward at a red traffic light, I didn't leave that gap or create it. I see no need to creep forward at a red traffic light to fill the gap and I am not blocking anyone, so hoot at me all you want or cross a solid white line at a red traffic light to save yourself a couple seconds on your trip.

I agree, especially if the gap was created by an idiot creeping over the line in the front into the intersection. So, no issue from me. Just accept that you will be encouraging other chancers. Like the guy on your left. You could see the wheels turning in his mind whether to take the gap or not.

It's funny because you don't realize the problem you create.

Was there nobody behind you? If everyone left such big gaps, traffic in the CBD for example would be gridlocked even more easily. A lot fewer cars would get through each traffic light when it turns green and fewer cars would be able to fit on the same stretch of road. Not only would it take you longer to get anywhere. You wouldn't be able to even get on to the road.

creep would mean edge forward a couple of centimeters maybe a Metre - pointless to do that, you should keep a decent gap but this is 3 cars space - its a bit overkill -

Are you both blind? I left a metre or two gap to the car in front of me, the fact that it moved forward while we were stopped at a red traffic light is a different matter, not one that I feel I should have to rectify. And this is funny because you are making an issue out of literally nothing...

You should always use the available space on the road. This is what enables optimum traffic flow. It's that simple really. Whether the gap was created by some other person or you doesn't matter. You had the ability to make use of the space and you didn't so you obstructed optimum traffic flow.

This is not nothing. It is the bad driving thread after all and we can all point it out if we see it.

Ohhhhhhh we should always use all the available space? So that's why people come up the emergency lane and skip queues. Right, now I understand.

We'll have to agree to disagree, I try to always be predictable on the road, and not moving at a red traffic light is exactly that.

One could also argue that I avoided an accident by remaining where I was instead of moving forward and potentially indicating to the person behind that traffic was now flowing only for me to stop moments later and them rear ending me because they weren't paying attention.

Not wanting to be boxed in when someone tries smashing my car's window, I leave 2-3m in front of my car when stopped at intersections. Enough to pull away if necessary.

And let's not start on the amount of time plus braking distance one requires, when moving at 60km/h, not to speak of 120+

I would have left it but now you called me blind

Actually you need to get your eyes checked it's not a meter or 2 the average length of a small car is about 1.5 meters
from your video the car in front of you is next to the white car at the front of the intersection there are 2 bmws (which are each about 4 meters long) with a gap of about a meter between them plus the what looks to be grey Micra that one is about 1.5 meters - you have left a gap of approximately 10 meters.

You think its funny but its impeding the flow of traffic.
