Bad Driving thread

Yesterday (20 Feb 2020)
Two drivers, one from Daily Fruit (I cannot make out the second company vehicle, I think it was a law firm) decided that the emergency lane is for their exclusive use (ramping over the storm drain) in front of a Metro Police car...

I don't think traumitised is the right word, but after having a truck squeeze my xr6 like a tube of tooth paste because he did not see me in his side mirror has made me pretty wary when overtaking them.

^This

Quite afraid of it happening, I floor it if I have to overtake them where there is a barrier on my side.

Also people who drive on the left of a turning truck then waving their limbs when they get squeezed, can they not understand it needs two lanes to turn?

And the metro police did nothing. So they condone it. Therefore that regulation does not count.

A common occurence at the William Nicol Dr exit off the N1S, I am glad to see I am not the only one who won't allow someone to simply put their indicator on and rejoin traffic.

I am not sure if I am doing something wrong but three separate occasions with two different drivers, stopping randomly for no reason that I can see...

And this beauty who fails to indicate before driving straight over the mini circle which isn't normally an issue but it didn't look like he was yielding for anyone...

And more taxi's taxi'ing on the wrong side of the road...

They don't trust any intersections (even when not a 4 way stop) because drivers not stopping at stop streets like OP did, a safety concern I presume.

I have never understood how creating a safety concern because you have a safety concern is a good idea? I understand being extra cautious at intersections but stopping when other drivers are not expecting you too can be dangerous.

A lot of drivers make this mistake without even realising, mid intersection lane changes...

The usual taxi move, won't wait in the queue like other drivers...

Another uturn, I can't remember if there are signs prohibiting uturns but based on the intersection, I would think there should be...

I do make U turns, but only where I can see oncoming traffic, and even then I double check.

And I don't choose dangerous spots to do these in either. If a place is too dangerous or unsafe for a quickie U-turn, I just proceed and do it somewhere safer.

Seen too many dashcams of U-turns gone wrong.

So some of us do believe lane changes in an intersection are illegal?
And U-turns are okay unless specifically prohibited.
In Maputo watch out the cops all think or they know and we don't, that U-turns are not allowed.

This driver also made use of the turn only lane to skip the queue. :(

Had the opportunity to kill a man this morning

2 lane road, solid traffic behind a truck, car comes up the side and violently tries to squeeze in front of me, so I held him for a bit, then noticed a bus coming the other way, held him a bit more, then at just just the last moment let him in.

He was arrogant about it when I passed him later as well, should have not let him in.

Agreed.

You got a noisy horn? :giggle: They get a groot skrik when they change lanes and all of a sudden they get greeted with the sound of a horn going off next to their car

Very true, I also find that the level of surprise has gone up since I got my Touareg, which is a tad larger then the Golf I had before
