So i decided to get my Nexus 7 3G from First-Tech office, i'm very disappointed with the service i received.

Firstly, on their website the tablet is advertised as R3895 all-inclusive, however when checking out via PayPal (which is the only card facility accepted) the price changed to R3913. When i questioned this, i was told their prices are linked to rand-dollar exchange rates (nowhere mentioned on their site)

Immediately after i paid i received an email saying i must scan and email a copy of my ID or drivers licence, when i asked why and pointed out that my PayPal account is verified, i was told it doesn't matter the card i used could be stolen.

Lastly, this morning i received an email saying the ETA for the delivery is end of February. I'm now waiting for my refund, Kalahari here i come.

Is there a difference between the one esquire sells and the one from First-tech as we bought two units last week , one in Cape Town and one in Gauteng for R3299.00 excl which is R 3760.86 inclusive.

Damn! i just paid R3999,95 to Kalahari about a minute ago :o

I bought a nexus tab from first-tech.
Also had the paypal conversion issue but they alert you to it before hand
Received my tab within 2 days I tink

In their defense, paypal does not support Rands and all their transactions are done in USD and while you get charged more the merchant actually gets less. Its a bit of a ****ty payment gateway for SA merchants at the moment, that is why so few use it.

So R18.00 and a copy of your ID (that you mark with black marker with company name written across) is the bad service?

Yes PayPal does mention it before you checkout, but i think First-Tech should mention it somewhere on their website...imagine if the difference was substantial.

Why did you neglect to mention the delivery, on their site it says delivery within 48hrs.

It wouldn't be an issue if i was made aware in advance that i would have to submit a proof of ID, what if i was travelling and didn't have a scanner around?

Well at least you got your money back but next time try to check with Esquire first since you are already a forum member.

I had a good experience with them.
I did an EFT , and went to collect the following day.

Nope i have not received my money back from First-tech and i suspect i might have to wait days. Honestly i was under impression that Esquire doesn't sell directly to public, but i see i was wrong.

Since when? IMHO Esquire is a wholesaler, one needs a cc or business to buy from them, therefore can't be compared with Amazon. I had a BAD experience when I bought from Esquire, them asking me for a business account.

You are 100% correct we are an importer and distributor , however three years ago we made a concession that MyBB members could buy from us directly as we do not classify MyBB members as your average end users

The time you tried to purchase from us you probably were not a MyBB member or did not tell them that you were one ,

Our policies are very strict when it comes to end users as we do not have the infrastructure to support them, that we leave to the retailers.

I did miss the delivery. Big deal breaker - end of the month.

Its Tuesday today, still no refund nor response to my emails

If you paid with paypal a refund is a simple click in their paypal account, which they probably haven't done as you would have received an email from paypal.

If they are ignoring your emails, Its time to lodge a dispute with paypal. You should also contact the paypal reps at FNB get them on their case, it is really extremely simple to do a paypal refund.

Thanks, I'm positive they're ignoring my emails. When i made a purchase, their credit controller manager replied within minutes.
