hai all i am moving from iburst asap i have called telkom today

since i do not have a telephone line i need to pay for that .. R700 deposit + the 140 for closer 1 package giving me free installation
R700 is because i do not have a credit record as of yet

now once i have that
i would wait 3 days for my line to propagate within their system then i shall apply for my ADSL line.. i am just affraid that they will not give me the Do lvl 3 package without a credit record. so i dont wanna go half way then cannot continue anyone can verify if i need a credit record for ADSL cause i have a phone line

btw this is self install which one of my friends will help me

where you stay since you also being charged the R700 desposit yet others dont get charged for having new lines?

As far as I know the R700 deposit is standard once-off for new customers (call it security/lack of credit record). Telkom still has my R700, until the day I cancel or die I guess.
I got my DSL without any deposit needed once I had the phone line. EDIT: I think the only time you don't pay the deposit for a new line is if you're an existing customer.

well when i called 10219 and asked they said certain people get charged it and some dont and suggested we should go to direct store to query and see if they can get us new line without paying it

ok so i called tellkom they said they are awaiting the technicians to come and install the line?

any idea how long this could possibly take?
