Baking afficionados

Then your straight edge is blunt.

But yeah like I said you can still bread knife most of it, then just break the crust with a cleaver or a longer sharp knife.

I've kind of been doing that - cutting the crust with a VERY old serrated knife and then cutting the slice with the knife in question, then bash the bottom o_O

LOOKS GREAT!

I made this for the first time last month, super delicious.

I was actually thinking it would be the perfect base for a bunny chow too!

I'm loving making enriched dough breads lately made some more english muffins this week.

Yeah definitely going to try it again with sour dough.

A whole lot easier than it seemed at first.

Ah ok, perfect.

All I recommend is that you ensure your starter is super active.

Yeah I’ve actually bought a starter for the first time ever since I’m struggling to get mind going.

Should arrive tomorrow and then I’ll get smashing.

Ah, my starter used to struggle till I realise I was over thinking it.

I just took a table spoon of floor and water in the morning and again in the evening for 3 days then made discard pancakes and the carried on for about another 3 days like that and have never had a more active starter.

Also dry out some of this starter you get once it's going and put in a glass jar for storage and use should it die.

Yeah due to my Crohn’s Disease I run a very pure white starter and I think I probably pushed it just a bit too far without any rhye/brown and likely also didn’t discard as much as I should have.

So starting fresh in the summer heat was just proving more effort than it’s worth so figured I’ll try a store bought one for a change.

But will definitely keep some back for storage.

Best of luck with that, hope you come right!

I had to Google because I've never heard of it. It's an American desert based on a German desert called Dutch Baby because the Americans didn't know the difference between Dutch and Deutsch.
