Baldur's Gate 3

OT, but I didn't want to start a new thread,

Starting TODAY, we'd love it if you submitted your Photo to [email protected] for a chance to be selected as one of two community members immortalized in a character portrait by Mike Sass. He will create your portrait in the original Baldur’s Gate style and your face could be added to the games! In your email, answer the following questions for Mike to draw inspiration from when creating his portraits:

1) What is your character’s race, class, backstory?

2) What is your most proud accomplishment in the 10 years of playing Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition?

3) If you played the original game over 20 years ago, how did it feel coming back to the Enhanced Edition?

Feel free to add/attach any additional materials, design concepts, and more.

anyone entering?

After playing Pathfinder Wrath and now Solasta... I'm not sure "baldursgate" 3 would or can satisfy seeing they've gone for the lolz-inclusicity-gate-3 feel. I do miss the actual setting, dialogue, look and feel of BG1, BG2/TOB over let's have a shits and giggle dnd like experience. However, I suppose if you are into this, well you might have fun. Right?

I haven't played Solasta, but both Pathfinder games were satisfying. I still have to get WotR's second season pass. I am currently thinking of replaying Lionheart with a couple of QoL mods, such an underrated game. ToEE, mod with Co8 and Temple+, is still undoubtedly one of the best D&D experiences.

If they remake ToEE with Co8 and KotB incorporated, and with a dash of T+'s best settings, then it would pretty much be the greatest D&D game of the year. Vanilla ToEE is such a poor excuse for a D&D game. Lionheart, very underrated. I am curious who owns the IP of Lionheart, could be Amazon since they acquired its developer... Black Isle Studios published the game though... ouch, the IP is most likely in the abyss.

ok close thread. just stick to the above.

Wait, Lionheart is still being sold on Steam, published by Interplay.

Start making a new game already...

Thanks for the Lionheart reminder...

The biggest problem with the game is it being unbalanced. There are many mods for the game, but not all are published on Mod DB and Nexus. If you are going to play that game today, QoL mods are essential, and you also need to find the correct wide screen patch.

I've been checking out Baulders Gate 3 lately as I've recently gotten into the DnD tabletop, and am craving a gaming experience similar to the 5e rule set. I've tried DOS 2 and really didn't enjoy the combat (having separate physical and magic armors, I feel like it just limits what kind of experience you want in terms of story (and battle) because you need to build your comp to focus on one of these armor sets, otherwise you are just handicapping yourself for no reason) or the art style. From what I've seen Baulders Gate 3 looks like it might just scratch my itch, is it worth getting now or should I wait for August with the full release?

Loved lionheart. Very underrated.

I actually enjoy BG3 so far, have hundreds of hours in act 1 with different class, race combinations and with almost every play through I find something new. But to each his own I guess.

I get that, but imho it's just too far removed from DnD/BGx being goofy.

I still have my original Baldurs Gate 1 box set from 1999.
Must give BG3 a try sometime soon

Don't know about goofy, yes sure you can get creative with the ways you do encounters, but then again that is the whole idea of dnd. Just watch some of critical role's sessions.

I still love the originals, played them more times than I can count.

It took me some time to get used to 5e rules though, still not a fan but I guess it is easier to get into for a newbie than 2nd or even 3.5

Busy with another playthrough and my biggest gripe is being limited to just 4 party members.
Yeah that does suck a bit, but I'm pretty sure there will be a mod to change that in the first week of release.
