Baldur's Gate 3

Must actually get back into this, Cyberpunk took over

Arrgggh I must still finish this game! Made it to Act 3, maybe I can wrap it up in Dec/Jan holidays. Want to see the ending plus get back the space for other games

Finally completed the game last night, 500 in game playtime later.
Many of the hours were because of the early access. This play though was about 150 hours.
Just an awesome game, really enjoyed the ending I got. Perfectly satisfied.
Looking forward to replaying it to make different choices. Truly a fantastic game.

Been playing more every chance I get, having a great time so far. It feels very punishing when you’re under leveled though so been running around trying to do as much side stuff as possible.

Starting to get the knack of it i think, it’s just very overwhelming in the beginning.

I should get back into this, haven't really played it since Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom liberty dropped.
Though I would probably need to start from scratch

If you keep an eye on https://www.reddit.com/r/BG3Builds/ you'll learn a lot that will make the game easier. Even if you don't follow a specific build, just seeing how a basic build is put together, how various things synergize with each other and what common pitfalls are will help.

Especially things like the Hall of Fame posts can make quite the difference. For me the best were Commonly Confused Mechanics and Introduction to Character Building. If you come from a MMORPG using the traditional tank/DD/heal trio, BG3 can take a bit of a paradigm shift. Considering that it comes from DnD, which is aimed at tabletop, there are a few nuisances that can trick you until you learn the mechanics.

I never do that stuff on a first play-through, I like going in blind.

I'm 60 hours in and haven't even reach Baldur's Gate yet

I did get stuck at the Gauntlet of Shar for quite some time as I couldn't figure out how to continue, turns out it's just one of the crystals on the platform you have to interact with (in my defence, after Googling it I was not alone).

I want to start playing this. But have not played Baldurs Gate 1 and 2. Is it necessary to play the first two games or should I just read up on the back story and jump into BG3?

The only thing you'll miss is some call backs to the old games afaik. Some characters are returning characters but other than that the stories are not connected. I didn't play 1 & 2 either.

Think it's about time I gave this a go. Which is the best current deal on console?

Depends what path you play. You will miss some back story regarding 4 characters and some nuisance regarding the dark urge path.
