Baldur's Gate 3

Absolutely no reason to play either of the others before playing BG Three.

There will be a few things you miss, but having not played them, you won’t know you missed them and they’re absolutely not essential to playing the game. And what a game.

Hope you enjoy it man. Update us once you get going.

Been playing it for the past 2 weeks. I love the story, hate the turn based combat. That's not the game's fault, there was a point in my life where I would have considered it fun. But time comes at a premium these days, and the combat takes way too long for me.

Don't think I'm going to finish it, don't have the time. Might go and start playing Veilguard instead...

I really enjoy the turned based combat, but I do get that it's very time intensive. Most of my time is spent looking for the right potion in my inventory though

I think I'm about 170 hours in now (according to the time on save) and I still feel like I could lose any encounter, so I think the difficulty scaling is pretty good. I have reached a fight now though where I just have no idea how I'm going to beat it, I feel woefully too weak for it. I left it for now and will return later but I might just drop the difficulty for this one as it's the only encounter so far that has me stumped and feels like a massive difficulty spike out of nowhere.

Are you in Act 3 yet?

I also loved the turn based combat

Yes, pretty far into act 3. I have 2 of the 3 Netherstones, just Gortash left.

The difficult fight I'm referring to is Shadow Heart's quest at the House of Grief, there are like 20 enemies all with large amounts of HP.

Having such a great time though, can't wait to finish it so I can start another playthrough

Ah yes, I remember that fight. Also took me a few tries...there's a few enemies that blind or daze you (can't remember)...annoying as hell but I think there was a way to make it easier...anyway good luck :D

Awww man, you guys are making me want to finally go finish Act 3! Love the game but it does move very slowly, especially because I'm new to it and there are so many spell/potion/combat choices. I have also been known to accidentally take out some of my own teammates at times . Not to mention obsessively checking reddit and the wiki to make sure I'm making the best story choices too.

Unbelievable.

It happens 😅

Especially as I play on console and the controller scheme isn't always the most accurate.
I would like to say it was the controller scheme but erm, it appears it was more the controller of the mouse and kb

I did have some learning experiences with spells that I aimed at enemies that gave them an advantage when I was supposed to use it on my team to give us the advantage. Also turns out I need to watch for the spell area of effect too. SO SO much learning hehe

Whatever you choose is the best choice, till you try something else next time
I'm not sure if I will play it again so wanted a playthrough that I enjoyed with story options that suited me. I have so many games to play that I don't often get to replay games. I'm also slow to finish most games because I want to pick up every piece of rubbish that sells for 1 gold and must do all side quests.

Same,i'm yet to finish a second, but I will...eventually  just don't let the fomo catch you if you missed a path

I take your point though, I do get a bit too worried about the consequences of my choices and then half my gaming time is spent reading reddit and the wiki when I should just be playing!

Patch 8 coming up.

Main reason I haven’t played the game as yet. Haven’t been a turn based enjoyer for a long time
